05 Black Grill to a 06 Chrome Grill ?

Hi Guys,

I'm a new member and I LOVE my 05 V8 Sport 4WD 4runner black. I'm SO glad I found this site with other guys who obsess about their 4runner's like me !

I have a black grill currently and I have seen the new 06's cruising around with a nice factory chrome grill.

Do you know if it's easy to switch out the black one and install a new chrome one ? If so where is a good place to buy one ?

Also is it better to just fit a chrome "stick on" grill over my black one ?

Just wanted to share a quick story of how 4runner.org helped out two of its members. I while back I posted I wanted to replace my black grill with a chrome grill.

Curtis, another member, wanted to replace his chrome grill with a black one.

Well, long story short I drove up to his house in LA and we swapped grills.

We were really excited because we both got new looks for our 4runners with out buying a thing.

I was going to buy an unpainted 06 grill and have it color matched Galatic gray to match my truck.

my stepson works at a Toyota certified Body shop as a painter. He's keeping an eye open for me for a 06 grill, and will paint it for free. Sinced I leased my truck I will have to keep the stocker to put back on , but thought it would be kinda cool to have an 06 sport that look's a little different than the others.

I still have mixed emotions about the smoked chrome grill on the 06.

Officer Rex , Are you a cop ? i was a cop for about 8 years so I was just wondering.

Yup, I have a 05, Sport V8, 4wd, with a chrome grill instead of the orginal black one it came with. I don't think anyone else in town has my combo.

Yes I'm a cop down in San Diego. But that's just my day job, my real passion is anything that has to do with my 4runner.
