'05 Ltd, GPS just died.

Nav system works, but it's not getting any position data from the GPS. Put it into service mode and you can see it gets signal strength from all the satellites, but 0-000 position data from each.

Nav still works, but it thinks we're 500 miles away driving some odd direction through the Sierra Nevada... :) :)

Is there a way to reboot or hard reset the system? Turned it on/off, left overnight, eject DVD, nothing works.

I just ended a 4 month saga with my 06 nav. Just received a new replacement last week. What is the model number of your nav? If it's the E7008, I can provide you with all of the info needed to get it replaced asap, otherwise you will be waiting just like i did. There is not reset to fix it, and an antenna replacement will not cure it ( which they will try first .) The history of my replacement request actually make for a quite interesting story, which i will only re-tell by request:) All i can say at this point is that it was a refreshing experience to drive from charleston to savannah this weekend without my nav putting me 40 miles out into the atlantic.

When I go into service mode and click Version, it says Model: TE00. I don't see anything that says E7008. Where do you see that?

It's printed on the front.... I think the 06 Nav is different than the 05, but if you're losing GPS fix, then the receiver inside the nav unit is most likely at fault. does it work sometimes and not others? does the test menu show multiple sats but no fix (only need three to get a 2-D fix). Mine would show all the sats in view but only receive one or two. Antenna replacement did not fix the problem. I experienced intermittent reception, but the only fix was to replace the entire nav unit. I do all of the IT work for my dealership, so they take very good care of me. Still took me 4 months for a replacement. Replacements have to go through North America Toyota for approval and they don't like to authorize such a repair. To be more correct, i think toyota divides their american regions into divisions. We deal with SET (South East Toyota) in this part of the country. All i can say is demand a replacement from the start, if you're still under warranty.

A sure way to reset it is to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. You will have to reset your auto window functions if you do this. Its easy though. GL!

Glad to hear that it's work again. But those intermittent problems are the most annoying problems, cause the dealer will say "couldn't duplicate problem."

Oops, mine is an 06, sorry, my bad. It doesn't have any model number printed on the front though.

The model number should be on a tiny label under the 'Tune' knob on the right side and above the 'AM/SAT' button. It's probably about a 1/4" high and 3/4" long. The nav with Bluetooth and amber lighting is the E7008.

Hi Brad - I'm only 40, am I still allowed a senior moment? It is an E7008, I don't know why I didn't see it there before when I was specifically looking for it. Oh well. It's dead again, no GPS. Any info you can give me to help at the dealer is much appreciated.

Brian,
Sorry for the delay in responding.. I have been out of town for a week. Describing what to do at the dealership for replacement can be a lengthy story. Give me a call (843.200.0122) and I'll tell you what to do.

Thx

Brad

BTW... GPS reception will come and go, but it'll get worse as time goes on.
