'05 radio upgrade

Ok, I took the plunge and bought an '05 4runner. However, it has the standard non JBL HU. I keep looking on this forum about changing out the HU to the Nav. What HU do I need to go with? I keep seeing the Solara HU can be put in, but what I am confused about is the wiring harness on the existing HU in my truck. I'm pretty handy and can put it in with minimal explicatives:D Also as an after thought, what other nav units have been a good alternative to Oem Value. Thanks

if you have the non-jbl unit now and want to go with the OEM nav, you'll need the camry nav that oemvalue sells (i.e. non-jbl also) and a separate amp...oemvalue does describe what's needed, just look at the "camry" or "non-jbl" nav...

Thanks for the advice kglueck. This is My first T4R. after i didn't get any bites earlier. I went a huntin'. I saw a post on the eclipse install. I think when I save enough money :D Imgonna purchase one. I have already started the Mods. I have a Auto dimming mirror w/ compass and some heavy-duty 4runner floor mats on the way. you know what the coolest part about that is? My lovely Wife ordered it for me:love:  I think I'll Keep her. thanks for the advice though. I love the forum. Take care.

fair enough! IIRC, there are quite a few installs documented here of other aftermarket navs. The eclipse is pretty nice, I understand. My main thing was wanting something stock. Good luck and enjoy it! Any nav you end up with you'll end up getting where you rely on it. I've gotten to the point of I just glance at it to see if the next street goes through to where I want to go. I've sure found a lot of shortcuts. ;):
