05 Rear Bumper (Driver Side) Help!

Hello All,

Back in 2007, my 4Rrunner was in pristine condition for the 2 years I had owned it at the time. But one day, I came home around 6 in the morning and where I live, I live on the corner of my block. My cross street is a busy street, and I had my car parked right on the corner. Anywho, I slept till about noon. When I woke up, someone had smashed into my rear driver's side bumper! I slowly started to not care about my Runner until I started to fall in love with it again this past year. I can't stand looking at my truck like it's some kind of beater. I want to fix my Runner back to where it was before it got smashed into. The other piece with damage is the gray strip that is on top of the bumper, to provide grip I'm assuming if you need to put something up top.

Does anyone have experience with this? How much am I looking to spend? Any recommended websites where I can purchase the piece(s)? Or should I just go straight to the stealership? For those in the LA or Orange County area, do you have any recommendations on paint shops? Once I save up enough funds, I'm gonna make my baby right again.

Can you post pictures? I'm not sure exactly what the damage you are describing is.

But if it is similar to how I think my 4runner was damaged a week ago the damage should be relativey simple to fix.

Your 4Runner is before the mid-generation face-lift so your rear bumper is actually 4 parts if you include the gray trim piece on top.

Depending upon how bad the damage is (which is why I reccomend pictures) the parts that need to be replaced may just be one panel. It cost me roughly $300 to replace only the Driver's side rear bumper panel, including part and paint. For you it may be closer to $500 as I did the installation myself.

This thread is about 2 months old now, I totally forgot to reply to you, BlackWorks.

Anywho, my rear bumper cover is a 3-piece bumper, which are on 03-05 T4R models. The left piece has a deep gash in it, so I highly doubt there is anything that I can do. Parts of it are cracked, so I think I should just replace it.

I did some searching on google and here and found a website where I could buy a replacement bumper cover. It's from partsgeek.com.

Does Action Crash make quality bumper covers/ends? Is this what the dealership/body shop would use?

As far as paint goes, my 4Runner is Galactic Grey Mica. Should I go to the dealership? Body shop? For those who live in LA/OC, please recommend me a shop (nothing in the Valley please... that's about an hour away from me). I'll try to get a hold of my girlfriend's camera so that I can show you the damage. Thanks again!
