Ahhh! It only two months old with 2,300 miles on it, but the power window button for the driver side has alrealy died on me. I was on my way to work this morning. The weather in Orlando seems to be perfect to roll down the window to enjoy the fresh air. I got to the parking lot and tried to close the window.....but the sucker did not respond at all. I 've tried atleast 5 times and finally gave up. Anyones of you out there have had this kind of problem or it's just happened to me?

Right before you noticed this glitch... did you pull the power to your rig.
I disconnected the neg cable from the battery and what I noticed after doing that was the rear hatch window and drivers side windows would not go down or up automatically. I played with the switch two or three times, opening and closing both of them manually and then they kicked in by themselves.
I'm wondering if each window has a fuse or if there is a master fuse for all windows that X5runner may have blown? OR WAIT A MINUTE! DID HE LOCK THE BUTTON BY MISTAKE WHICH PREVENTS ALL THE WINDOWS FROM OPERATING. ITS EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY HIT THIS BUTTON!
I felt like a complete moron because I opened the rear hatch window, and then by mistake hit the lock button and I couldn't get that damn thing to go back up. I even disconnected the neg battery cable and had to reset all my damn radio stations. I was so worried because I had to leave my vehicle for my morning commute and well, I read on here that the lock switch locks every window.

You are right on the money!! I had just disconnected the negative cable from the battery because I was messing around with the installation of a new radio. Could that explain the temporary malfunction? I did not try the auto function in the rear window, but I bet it was out too!!
Thanks man! It just started this morning with out any reasons. I opened the window half way down on my way to work. When I realized that it would NOT go up, then I tried to open it some more. The damn window went all the way down and never wants to go up. I checked all other windows, they work fine except the driver window. It shouldn't be the fuse though, b/c it did work in open mode but not the close mode. So, 99.9% it gotta be the power window actuator malfunction, or the button mechanism has broken internally. I'll play with it when I get home. In the mean time, it's sitting out there with a black garbage bag covered the window. It made me so mad that I just want to run straight to the dealer to get it fix right away. I HATE MY 4RUNNER!PROZAC said:

Well, before spending time at the dealership, I would at least pull the neg cable for a couple minutes and then see if you are able to reset the regulator. Worth a try and doesn't cost you anything.

i had a similiar problem with the switch on the passenger side window. instead of making an appt. with the dealer and trusting someone removing the door panel and putting it back right, i fixed it in my work's parking lot in about 5 minutes with a screwdriver. just had to remove the door panel which was painlessly easy, and snug up the wire to the switch!

You're damn right! The switch is F!@ked. I just got home and tried to play with it. All other window buttons are very solid in both position UP & DOWN. However, the driver side is some what loose only in the UP position but it does fine in the DOWN position. I turned the key to ON position and kept play with the damn black tiddy for awhile, and guest what? It did make contact and the window rolled up a bit when I slightly push the button to sideway. I keep doing that until it went all the way up. Now, it's closed. The problem is surfaced. Somehow the downward contact lever of the button is out of position, or is broke due to cheap material or poor workmanship ???. It's internal part of the button but I can feel it. I'll call the dealer tomorrow for an appointment. Hope I don't have to wait a week or two while they order the part. For now, I leave myself a memo: "DO NOT OPEN THIS SH%T" right on the window glass.

I had some bad paint on one of my wheels and I told them that that really sucks and I was really upset and mad at them for giving me a vehicle like that in the first place.
They gave me a new wheel. Even mounted the tire on it and balanced it.
Oh and they also gave me a free oil change just for letting them replace the wheel.

That is definitely an annoying problem you are having, especially on a brand new truck. On the other hand, every car company is going to have the "one in a million" switch (or any part) that is faulty. Unfortunately, you were the lucky one to get that broken switch. It doesn't mean that your truck is a lemon though. The lemon law only applies to vehicles that have the same problem occur three times or more. If they replace the switch and you are still having problems, then I would be concerned. Don't let this annoying problem ruin your experience with your 4Runner.

Damn Toyota and damn you KMX3060 for ur idea of hiring a lawyer! A week after I got her home. There was a CRACKING noise on the driver side pilar near by the seatbelt adjuster. Got it fix (Not a big deal). Then the damn sunroof kept adjusting while driving with the sunroof widely opened (Got this reset). Not done yet. Pushed her up to 80-85 MPH once on highway and learned that the steering wheel vibrated violently (4 Tire balanced and front end alignment fix it)Third week in my hand with all of my love. She received a LOVE KISS @ 5 MPH by a fly by BLAZER. The front bumper was torn off like it was made out of cardboard box (the blazer was fine with some of my white paint on her lip). :bash: Now, window switch is broken........and I have to wait until next week to get it fix. I'm tired man.

Wow, sorry to hear about all of your bad experiences. I hope you have better luck with your truck.
Just to let you know, the sunroof adjusting itself while driving is a normal thing. When you reach 58 mph, the wind deflector will lower itself to reduce wind noise. When you slow down to 45 mph, the wind deflector will then raise itself back up again. That is a feature of the truck to reduce wind noise. I don't know if that was the problem you are describing though!
