05 sr5 4wd?

i just bought a 05 4runner sr5. the 4wd works fine. but you have to drive like 30 feet before it engages or disengages. i had a 99 ranger before this. and as soon as you hit the button it would go straight in to 4wd. is this normal on the 4runner? or is it something i should be concerned about? and when it does engage then i hit the center diff lock. that also takes a few feet to engage. i could really use some help on this one...

That seems to be normal. I have a 2006 and it takes about 15 to 20 seconds for it to engage and stop flashing. Takes longer sometimes when its really cold out (high teens to 20's in temperature).
