My 2003 V8 takes a 90915-YYZD3 oil filter

Looks like Toyota uses just a few different filters for all their engines. The YZZD3 is the one for the larger-displacement stuff, including the 4L V6 and 4.7L V8. A different filter is used for the smaller V6s. and yes, the filter installed at the factory has a different model number that what you'll find at your dealer. Just don't let them give you the filter for the smaller V6s.
The first filter is often very hard to remove, and I suspect it's because the seating surface is perfectly clean (no oil) when the filter is installed at the factory. Other than the irritating difficulty of a filter that's very hard to remove, there is a danger that the sealing ring at the base of the filter will remain on the block and not come off with the oil filter. If you don't catch this, and just screw the new filter on, the stacked sealing rings will likely leak (but not necessarily immediately) and that can be a real mess. It looks like Honda CRVs are having a terrible time with just this sort of problem, and it has led to a rash of fires because the oil ends up getting on the exhaust manifold.

The best filter for the V8 is the Japanese-made Denso xxx-20004, but it's no longer imported into the States. It has a pre-lubed gasket and resin core. Although it's really for the 2UZ, it fits a bunch of Toyota engines.

The 20004 came off my truck, the 90915-yzzd301 from the dealer went on. I changed my oil at 500 miles, filter came off easily. I had more trouble with the washer on the drain plug, it was stuck to the pan. The 90915-yzzd301 from the dealer was pre-lubed.
I just checked partznet.com
They have the 9091520004 for $8.14. Have to order a case.

Did you guys check out ebay for those Lexus V8 oil filters?
This guy is selling 4 for $13.99. Supposedly they're OEM (Nippon), no markings on them whatsoever except for the part #90915-20004
What do you guys think? Buy these or go with partznet?
