'06 4Runner OEM Sirius Receiver for DVD-NAV

Does anyone have a solid time frame when this will be available? Sirius Satellite shows it as an option for the '06 4Runner on the Toyota Web site.

I just purchased an '06 Limited and my dealer thought it was available, but it still is not. I called two different dealers in the area and got two different answers. One stated July, the other Sept/Oct.

If it is not availalble yet, why has Toyota's Web site had it as an option for the last 2 months?

Any news?

I saw it listed as an accessory for the 4Runner on the website so I called the dealer to order one. After a few days of searching, they told me that only XM is available at this time. I was told that Sirius will be available in September. XM is not even listed as an option for the NE region!
 
If I'm not mistaken, J0mama added sirius to his 06 Sienna nav unit without problems a few months ago. Acutally, the Solora unit is an in glass antenna and the Land Cruiser has an outside type antenna.

So, it appears that the DVD Nav system is identical on several different models (correct?)

so what takes Toyota so long to come up with a Sirius kit for the 4Runner if the LandCruiser unit works with it?

In any case, I've ordered my unit/kit (LandCruiser version) from MetroTPN.com.

Yep, the 7007 (Sienna), 7008 (4R), and the 7009 (07 Solora) are identical. I have a 7007 one myself and changed out the LED's to orange so its identical to yours (for the most part). Your install should/will go smooth, no worries

I ordered the Sirius Fit Kit and Receiver on Friday (6/16) and will have it on Monday. (Portland, OR)

According to my parts manager, toyota was having issues with reception, and therefore put a stop sale to all Sirius kits. They are now available with no backorders (WA, ID, OR, CA).

I will install on monday and post the results.
 
I actually got the fit kit and receiver and have had it working for close to a month now trhough the Nav screen. I'll try to remember to post the part numbers that you have to order. If the dealer tells you that it's not available they're wrong. When I ordered mine, there was something like 500 available at the main distribution center.
 
I got my Sirius receiver and Landcruiser fit kit from MetroTPN.com yesterday and attempted to install everything today.

I was surprised to find after I pulled the headunit that there was already a cable plugged into the C connector!

The cable that came with the Landcruiser fit kit had what looked like a built-in Y adapter on the end, so I connected the existing C connector cable into one end of this adapter, and then plugged the other into the C connector. The other end of the cable plugged into the sat receiver.

There was no love when I powered everything up. Everything else worked, but no Sat! The Landcruiser cable also had two larger connectors on it. I Googled a Landcruiser install and it looks like those are supposed to be plugged into the LandCruiser's amp.

Bottom line, either the LC cable doesn't work with the 4Runner, or since there was already something plugged into the C connector (no, I don't have the external CD changer) perhaps the cable is already in place and I just need to find where it ends and simply plug in my sat receiver.

Any ideas?

Forgot to mention that I also tried to just plug the connector from the Sat receiver cable directly into the C connector and still no love...
 
I installed my Sirius receiver yesterday with great success. Had the service manager print out the installation step by step as well. A little bit more involved than what has been posted on here previously...but not bad.

I was told by my local parts manager (been correct on everything so far) that the landcruiser fit kit would not work on the 4runner. I too wanted the different antenna...but it sounds like he was correct.

(4runner fit kit is same for Camry, Solara, ES330 only)
 
Thats weird, maybe j0mama can specifiy for you then exactly which antenna he got... according to his post, he originally picked up the solora one than ended up trading out for the LC one. If that was a mistake I am sorry for leading you in the wrond direction.

I am looking into getting the 2007 Solara Nav Unit for my 2006 4Runner... Which sirius kit will work for this? I would rather have the outside mount rather than the windshield mount but was hoping someone has a link / part number so I can make sure I buy the right one.

I also originally tried the Landcruiser fit kit. It didn't work for me either, but the main cable looks exactly the same as the new 4runner cable, the only difference being that the LC cable has a second cable attached to it that looks like it probably plugs into the amp in the LC. The 4Runner cable only goes from the Sirius receiver directly to the Nav, and you do need to unplug the existing cable from the C connector in the back of the Nav and go through the Y adapter on the cable.

I believe I have the final answer. I had a long conversation over the phone with Jesse at www.metrotpn.com

Very nice guy and took the time to do some research (unlike my local Toyota Parts employees I might add, who still insist the kit is not available - they didn't even bother to check!!)

Jesse did some checking and it turns out the the fit kit for the 2006 4Runner IS available. As a matter of fact, there are several thousand of them located at the various parts shipment centers Toyota maintains in the U.S.

Jesse order the correct kit and it should be here in a day or so and I am returning the Land Cruiser fit kit.

BTW, the 4Runner kit has a single cable that has the Y-adapter on the end in case you already have something plugged into the C connector on the HU.
 
Boy am I confused. I am reading in some spots that the LandCruiser model won't work. Then I am reading in some other places that the antenna is different. Then I am reading about the 'Fit Kit.' What the heck is that?

Does the antenna even matter? Regardless of what kit is bought, can't you just buy another antenna from best buy that better suits your install?

I think most of us have either the E7007, E7008, or E7009 nav units. Which sirius units will work on these? Are they all interchangeable? I have the E7009 and am in the middle of installing it in a 2006 4Runner... But I can't figure out what Sirius product to get!!!

In order to install the Sirius Kit in the 4runner you need two (2) kits.

Sirius Fit Kit (part # PTS31-33051) - includes wire harness from HU to Receiver, Antenna (Windshield Mount), Receiver bracket (which mounts underneath the passenger seat, and adhesive tape, screws, etc.
Dealer invoice price: $50.00

Sirius Base Kit - Receiver (part # PTS31-00052) - includes Sirius Receiver
Dealer invoice price: $150.00

This is for the 06 4runner with NAV or the JBL Synthesis. If you have any questions related to install please let me know.

You can use a roof mount antenna with the 4Runner Sirius receiver. I already have a roof mount that fits the antenna jack on the receiver.

You'll still need to order the fit kit, because it includes the cable that connects the receiver to the HU. Ebay (or toss) the window mount antenna and buy a roof mount.
