Just thought I would let everyone know that the 06 Scion HU does in fact plug right in......just as glacticgray05 said. I really thinks it looks nice with the volume knob, but the sound is what really impresses. I am blown away by how nice the factory speakers sound. I have previously had vehicles with the factory upgrade system (Bose) and with the scion HU the 4Runner sounds just as good as I remember those sounding. I know it sounds better than the Bose system I had in my Silverado or Pathfinder. Everyone with the base system should do this. Just curious, what do people have the SSP set up for.....the tC, xA, or xB. I thought it sounds the best on xB, but xA seems to play more highs. I cant believe I waited a year to do this.

Do your steering wheel audio controls still work?
I will get a close up pic in whenever I get the vehicle back from the body shop. I am having a scratch from the garage door fixed on the tailgate, and when I went to get it yesterday it looked terrible (this fiasco should really be a post of its own!), so they are redoing it and hopefully I will get it back tomorrow and can take some pics......BTW I dont have steering wheel controls on my lowly SR5.

Steering wheel controls came with the leather wrapped steering wheel option on the SR5 models.
The leather wrapped steering wheel with radio controls is included on the Sports and Limited.

Is the HU you installed 6 CD in dash or single? Does it play MP3?

I have the JBL synthesis system, single CD with 10 speakers. Yes is crapy.
I'm planning on changing to a Scion HU 6 CD in dash unit and for this I have to change all speakers (just changing front and rear doors and sub). I'm disconnecting the middle one and the two in the rear gate.
Also changing either to a single 5 channel amp or one 4 channel and one single channel for the sub.
Can anyone tell me if what I'm trying to do will work or am I dreaming?
