06 SE Front Grill

Guys, I love my new 4Runner more than any car I ever owned, but the look of that smoked chrome grill really turns me off. Has anybody replaced theirs with the Limited's color keyed grill? If so, how much did it cost you? If not, any other recommendations? Thanks for your input.

I thought the same thing since I dont like the smoked grill either. My son paints for a Toyota certified body shop so that would be a cheap mod for me to do , both in parts and paint. I really want to do it but hav'nt had the time.
 
You can try and see if there's a member with a Limited model who might be interested in a smoked chrome grille and do a swap. Mine's Titanium metallic (and I like the color key), so I'm out. There's another thread here where the member painted his chrome grille body color.
 
Yeah I am with you on this too!

I really don;t like that smoked grill thing. It's too much bling bling which i really hate.

And I tried to search on the toyota parts.com and etc and no luck.

Anyone have idea where i can buy that colored girll?
 
It is much more resistant to chips and scratches. Mine has several rock chips along with the front hood which I believe has too thin of a paint job on it
 
Like all here, I did not like the silver looking grill and went to the dealership and bought one, it could either be for the SR 5 or the limited since both uses the same grill. The part number for the Shadow Mica color is 53100-35A00-B2. It cost me $150.00 but I am happy.

Just wondering..

Did you install it yourself or have a dealer do it for you? If you did it, was it hard to do? It looks like it would be easy to do.
 
Did it myself, it is only held on by eight screws. Just unloosen the screws, take the old grill off and relplace it, you can do this in less than a half hour.

Thanks for the info. $150 is not that bad. I always want to replace mine. I thought it would cost me in the neighborhood of $500.
 
Ordered the grill today

Just got back from the dealer and the grill costed me $191 w/tax and should be here in a couple of days. I can't wait to get rid of the chrome one, it's just too much chrome for my liking. Appreciate all of your responses and I'll post a pic when I get it on.
 
:iagree: I love the smoked grill...as long as it has that V8 logo on it! :D If anyone wants a Natural White 04 grill for a smoked 06 (I know they are different but I had to try) Im in!!!
