07 4Runner limited 16s or 17s?

I traded my Fj in last week for an 07 4Runner limited.

I already invested in 16" TRDs..but the 4Runner Limited comes with larger brakes. 16s don't fit.

Does anyone know if I go with 285/70/17s, will I have rubbing and need spacers?

Someone at Toyota120 has the 16" FJ TRD 6 Spoke on his 2005 4Runner Limited. It does fit, but he had to grind the heck out of the caliper.

He said if he did it all over again, he wouldnt, it was a PITA.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the larger brakes were an option on the limited model, not standard. I know my 03 has the smaller rotors, but maybe they changed that in the newer models. Not sure, but I'd double check to make sure which rotors you have.

I have the bigger ones, already tried the 16s and the rotors scored the inside of the rim, just a bit. Did not drive with them just tried to fit them on.

I think my main question is: do the 285/70/17s rub and do folks get spacers anyway? If so, I may get spacers and try my 16s before I try to sell them.

I really don't want spacers.

It must be related to a tow package option. I have tow hitch accessories in the glove box.

Yes I am prepping for off-road. Sold my FJC and have already re-installed skid plates and lower control links. As soon as I have time my ICON coil overs and OMEs will go on. Ordered Shrockworks sliders over the weekend.

Then will only need to buy tires and bumper. Hoping my Baja Rack FJC mounts are lined up with the 4Runner..

Later this year will have an ARB locker installed in the rear and then I will be done with the swap.

I don't have experience but I'm fairly sure 285s rub the UCA & body mount up front without spacers.

285/70/17s on stock wheels

Hate to be a downer but I don't think that BajaRack from the FJC is gonna fit either, good luck with it though.

I have the larger sport (or limited?) brakes on mine, and the 16 inch fj trd wheels fit just fine. I also have 285's, and with spidertraxx, I only trimmed a little of the front fender well

I have stock 16" wheels with my winter tires on them and they fit fine over my bigger brakes.

I have early 2003 Tundra 16 inch alloy wheels for my BFG All Terrain T/As on my 2005 4R Limited and they clear the calipers with room to spare.

I think I am going to grind down the calipers a touch and go with my other set of TRDs 16x17.5 and run 255/85s.

I also have Light racing UCAs, will install them with lift.

Yep, I know I am wishful thinking on the baja rack.. But I am going to call Sergio tomorrow anyway and see how off it is. Maybe he can just send me the mounts and I can re locate and weld the brackets.. Unless I readit wrong, it seemed the FJC version of the baja rack was longer then the 4runner but the same width.

Thanks for the info. Are you guys sure you have the larger rotors and not the smaller ones? 16's should not clear with the larger brakes, at least that's been the experiences in the past.

Also, I wouldn't think it was a towing related feature. Mine has the rear air suspension, designed for towing, and only the smaller brakes.
