07 A/C, only dash/face not working

I'm scrambling for the actual terms, but when selecting the different settings, all of them work (feet, defrost) EXCEPT the ones that blow directly from the dash into your face. The air gets loud and whistles but doesn't blow from them when you select that position...

It's almost like the controller isn't allowing the vanes to open in that setting. Is this something I can fix? Anyone know about it?

Maybe the air is blocked somewhere. Its loud, because there might be an obstruction in the tube to the ducts. Or, it just slip in the joint...so instead of blowing to the center duct, the air escape somewhere.

You can remove the radio, climate control and front covers in order to have a good view. I'll also try vacuuming all air outlets, a paper getting in through the center defroster can block airflow.

Just to make sure... All four of the dash vents are turned on correct? They can be shut off individually.

Yes, all the vents are open. The whistling sound comes from behind the dash it seems, as if the (whatever it is that moves to change airflow from feet to middle vents to dash) isn't allowing it to change to that position.

Like I said, it blows the defroster, and feet fine.

Oh you are a Godsend... Thank you so much for that, I've been hunting for the last 5 hours online to try to find SOMETHING that told me how to access it.

If I find out that a piece of paper has slipped down and blocked it, I'm gonna beat my wife... She can NOT keep crap out of a vehicle.
