'07 Battery Llife

Personally I think its more of an application thing.

Thinner plates doesn't mean that its not less durable, you can still build them robust, it just means its cable of more discharge current.

Thicker the plates, the better they resist sulfation when you cycle deep, and because of that it will have less CCA.

Both types of batteries can be build well for their respected applications... if this is going to be a starter battery, you could lean towards more CCA.

I still look at the pro-rate warranty because I have actually got back $30 ish before in addition to the core charge after 3 years... Not bad if you decide to change a little early.

They are both sold as starter batteries, so I don't think it matters too much. 710 CCA should be more than enough. I can't think of a good reason why one or the other would last longer, but the higher reserve capacity sounds better to me, so that's likely what I'll go with. The Toyota Truestart 24F could also work for our application, and that has only 575 CCA. Of course we might as well go with the biggest battery that will fit.

My '07 started this morning, glad I'm not up in Alaska.

Well battery is done, so is the 120K Miles Service and then....XREAS leaking. Swapping it out for Bilstein 5100 all around and scrap the XREAS tubing.

not cheap.

Battery life doesnt mean much in a hot environment. In places where weather is constant and is not too hot or cold, those are the ideal places to live for long battery life. One who has batteries that can last 10 years can drastically be dropped to 2-3 years in a hot 100F+ or 40C+ environment.

I think I'll start shopping for a new battery... My 2008 still has the original Panasonic AGM. No troubles cranking over yet.
Still, at nine years, 128K miles... it's time.

That tip about the rear window wiper on start up indicating battery low shows me that Toyota had a sense of play when they built this 4Runner.:lookout:

Just replaced my second battery with the duralast gold after leaving the map light on. It wasn't dead but it was just a super start battery from 9/2011 so it was definitely due out here in the desert. I Immediately noticed the difference in engine turnover. Enjoy Alaska!

replaced my 2007 Panasonic today. 41K, not a lot of mileage. True Start 84

Go to a parts store they will load test the battery for you. if its in the warning signs, then just swap it out. if you are going anywhere cold, it will show its signs. Go with a quality battery, and you wont have any issues. you can get a optima red top battery on amazon for around ~150. Or go with advanced auto parts when you find a crazy good coupon, by default you can get 20 % off, usually higher.
