07 Lexus GX470 front brakes

Hey all: looking for some help. Know this isnt a 4runner but close enough! (4runner Toyota put a dress on!)

I need to replace the front brake pads. Wondering if the system is the same as the 4runner. I searched for a thread on how to do this and it's a little sketchy...

I am assuming that this is a fixed caliper (looks like it) and you pull the pins and the pads come out? Anything to watch for here? Also, how do you collapse the pistons?

This style of brakes is new to me and I really don't want to screw up the truck. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated... Good ole Lexus wanted almost $300 to do this... pads were $50 at the Auto store...

The pistons should just push back in. I highly recommend pushing them all the way back prior to removing the old pads. They are 4 piston calipers which means if as you push one or two pistons it'll push the other two out. I just pry gently 2-3 progressively larger screwdrivers incrementally (while being slow and gentle to avoid nicking the rotor). I also crack the bleeder and re-tighten as I apply and release pressure.

The brake pad change is the easiest DIY on the 4Runner. I much rather do a brake job on the 4Runner than change the oil. As CJ mentioned, remove the clips at the end of the two pins, remove the pins and M spring. Take a clamp to the pads to compress the pistons, remove and replace pads, reinstall the pins and done. Once the wheels are off, you can get both sides done in under half an hour.

It's not necessary to remove the caliper, but if you choose to, it's the two big bolts that holds it to the spindle, not the smaller bolts that holds the two halves together.
