i put a scion t1807 in my 2006 sport replacing the stock non jbl radio and the fm really sounds great with strong bass.

i like being able to program the display also.
my son thinks i'm a geek for doing it but it's easy to do and drives people nuts if they notice it.

The stock radio is limited in its ability to modulate sound. the speakers are good for a stock system. I am considering replacing it for christmas with a in dash 5 cd with satellite Pioneer system and adding a couple mid range speakers in the back.

If you change out to the Scion Head unit and don't have a real critical ear, the stock speakers are fine. Most use the adjustment of"feel" on the Scion radio processor.

Anyone consider adding in an AMP instead of replacing the headunit? The SCION is a tad fugly.

My wife said the same thing when I put the Scion unit in her 4Runner. (I put it in while she was out of town and "surprised" her when I picked her up at the airport. "Get that thing out of my car and put my stereo back in now!") She's gotten used to it now, and I think she actually likes it better.
You can add amp(s) using a line output coverter, but you will probably want to replace the stock speakers.
