I just bought an '07 Sport Edition and found that although it has the engine immobilizer it does not have an alarm. Doing some research it seems that the alarm in previous models was the RS3200+ which appears to be a plug and play solution. When I called the dealer to inquire about adding it they said that the only option is the TDS alarm which takes all day to install because they have to run all the wires. Does anyone know if the RS3200+ is still an option for 2007 models? Is the RS3200+ better than the TDS alarm?

i'm not pretty sure the RS3200+ is still an available option for 2007, when we bought our 2006 t4r they offered us the audiovox pursuit add on alarm system, i took it only because my wife wanted to have an alarm right away for we live in an apartment, plus the dealer installed it, so in case it causes any troubles we could always go back and have it checked through them.
And now here's the negative side, i really didn't like that it was hooked up to the horn (although i found out how to disable it)

My friend's '07 alarm is the same way. I think the alarm is by Automate. The turn signals flash first followed by the parking lights. The factory remote is kept to arm and disarm the alarm system. When the alarm is trigger it honks the horn, but I believe the honks are more rapid than the Toyota one. Also, when the key is out, hitting the lock side on the master switch will arm the alarm. My friend inquired about it from the installer and they said that's the only way they can keep integration with the factory remotes.

I purchased and installed the RS3200+ factory alarm system in my driveway. It is basically a plug and play system which utilizes the factory key fob, dash security blinking light, the Runner's horn and it's lights. Mine came with the glass breakage microphone which hides under the dash. I felt as if the glass breakage mic was kinda gimmicky in that it was a 50/50 chance it would set off the alarm if my window was broken.
The RS3200+ works by sounding the Runner's horn rapidly, flashing the head/tail lights, and attempting to relock all doors in rapid fashion. It will continue to do so until the doors can be locked and then it will reset itself. Supposely when you return to your truck and start the vehicle, the security light will flash the amount of times the system was tampered with. It is a cheap ($129 on internet) add-on option that supplements your engine immoblizer and to get a insurance deduction.
I'm still waiting for much better internet tracking systems to come about before spending any big money on car security. I pay enough for insurance already and feel that security systems are a cash cow for local audio joints. It wouldn't take much at all for a chip maker to create a 12 volt device with self battery backup that can be hidden within the vehicle and then tracked on internet. The fee for this shouldn't be over $5-$8 a month. Bluetooth and cellphone tracking technology along with Onstar type products will soon make traditional car security alarm systems obsolete in my opinion.

dude, Bingham totally got ripped off (and me too in a way). They sold me that Pursuit alarm too. Since Im really meticulous about leaving the vehicle generally stock, I really asked them if there is no RS3200+ for the 06 4Runner, a few minutes before I authorized them to install the Pursuit alarm. They said no. So I went ahead and did it. Told them also to disable the horn (cuz I knew ahead of time that the horn is used and I just wanted the "BEEP BEEP") . When i got the car back, I nearly almost blew my head off. It looked totally aftermarket, except the remote (which is still the original). It had the extra LED light (it doesnt connect to the flashing car w/key on center display), and the park lights flash, and they drilled (I was really pissed at this one) my lower left siding, to put that stupid damn immobilizer overide, or whatever u call that button. I was pissed.
Then a couple days later, I went to the other dealer (Michael) to order an accessory, or something. It just so happens, that I figured to ask them if there really wasnt a RS3200 for the 06 4Runner. They said "Yes it can be ordered" So i went directly back to Bingham, fought with them for about 30 minutes, and they checked once again, and seems like the parts guy made a mistake and it was availabe. The good part was, they changed it to the RS3200, but they didnt replace my drilled plastics (one with the extra LED light, and the overide button) and that was the bad part. I thought that we would have learned from a previous experience with the odyssey we have, that they sold us some crap alarm just because they have a bigger cut AND it's cheaper than the OEM Honda alarm. Now i pledge that in the future, any car I buy that doesnt have a factory alarm installed, that i WILL NOT settle for any of that "ADDs on to your original keyless remote" scam and I will only go with the branded (i.e. Toyota, Honda, etc) alarms.
For those who want an original stock alarm, NEVER go with anything other than a Toyota VIP RS3200+ system. DON'T fall for those sales talk "Oh it's original, it's connected, and you just use the same keyless remote you have right now" but that's just a bunch of BS.

:bash: LOL... i feel your pain man.. i've even tried searching for some info about that pursuit alarm and found out that it would only cost me less than $100 to purchase it somewhere else, dealer was charging $500(installed) i believe

Oh and you know what i did to that crappy blinking red led light? I changed it to something brighter! hahaha Darn light was so weak and so cheap looking! And another thing, a few weeks after it was installed, the damn alarm goes off for no freakin' reason, took it back to the dealer as soon as i had the chance and they said that they just needed to adjust the sensitivity. So far so good, hopefully nothing goes wrong again
I'm glad you got yours changed to the RS3200, i've learned my lesson and i'm staying away from those add on BS

My truck only came with an immoblizer with the blinking red key light on the center console. I purchased a RS3200+ off the internet for about $140 and did my own install. It's basically a mfgr plugin.
To the person about the Lojack....... it is a good deal but only the police can track you truck. I am waiting for a system which will allow you to arm your truck, then it will dial your cellphone if the truck is moved w/o your permission. If you are a person who take 2,3, or 5 day business trips then if your truck is stolen on the first day of your trip by the time you get back home it will be long stripped and parted out. I'm looking for an internet, GPS, and phone tracking system. Somebody will soon have this type of system available for a cheap price.

wow. $500. Mine was $600. But that $600 went a long ways.....
I think the Pursuit has a shock sensor that the oem alarms don't have. My odyssey has an aftermarket (not the aftermarket that my dealer sold me) and it goes off whenever during the summer when it's parked on my driveway. heat sensitivity? heck, I just fold or open a side mirror, and the alarm goes off on my ody! lol. My CRV in the Philippines is a lot worse. When a jeepney passes by or some noisy tamaraw or something, the alarm goes off. lol.

Either open your window or sit inside, lock it, look at your "security" light (the car with a key in it) and see if it stays solid for about 30 after you press the lock button on your remote. Then when it starts flashing, open a door and see if it will alarm. If you have an aftermarket or some other junk that the dealer sold you or installed, wait 30 seconds also (but the car with the key light will not be solid at any time) and open a door and see.

Thanks... and bingo! My car has a factory alarm I guess. However, how do I know if I got a glass sensor or not? I try to tap some noise in the car, but no response.
Also, is that possible for me to add a remote engine start, but I want to keep using my factory alarm and remote. Anyone??
