08 4 runner vibration on highway only when cold

I just bought a left over 08 4 runner limited v6. I live right next to the highway so in the morning when it is cold I have a vibration in my steering wheel I wonder if I have flat spots in the tires from sitting on the lot so long? When it is warm after I drive for 15 min it is gone any ideas???Thanks

I doubt it's your steering/rack. It's gotta be the tires. Steering wheel jitter would suggest front tire(s). Usually bad balancing becomes apparent at higher speeds at all temperatures, so your sympton is different. But what the heck, why not just get your 2 front wheels balanced - maybe that'll work. Could it possibly be a nail/screw in a tire that freakishly somehow causes no vibration when the tires warm up? You could jack up the front end and check each tire for flat spots or nails/screws. If you can't find anything, switch the front tires to the back and see if your cold morning vibration is still there. If it's gone or still there but definitely different, then it's your tires. If it's the same vibration, then it's some other gremlin to find.

Or you could just do nothing - ignore the problem until you need to replace your tires, and then see if you still have a vibration. :p
 
You're not dreaming it!

I've noticed this on occasion...car and tires are cold...slight vibration that pretty much disappears once everything is warmer. Only with the winter tires though, I don't think I've noticed it with our all seasons.
 
Thanks for the responses. I will probably rotate to see if it gets better of course I brought it to the dealer and they said it is A ok nothing worng:) I will probably just live with it 18" tires are kind of costly so when they wear out then I will get something else.

It's the tires as soon as they warm up the ride is smooth.:)

Another item dealers keep the tire pressure low, so you feel a soft ride. Low tires have a larger foot print on road so when they sit in cold weather they have a larger flat spot.
Mine had 25PSI in them. After getting them up to 35PSI I never noticed the problem again.

They are all at 32 and still junk! You would think for almost 40K you would have a smooth ride all the time oh well when they wear out I will get new ones no rush at about $900 for 4 tires!!!

What brand is your tires?
 
Nobody said there was anything wrong with the brand. I was asked what kind I have. Any tire would act up after sitting on a lot for over a year in one spot.
 
Those who've commented they have a similar problem - do you all have 18" tires? Is this an 18" low tire pressure issue?
