08 4runner Radio Question

So i am thinking about changing out my head unit. Here is my question. I do not have the JBL system its the basic radio system but i have audio controllers on my steering wheel. If i buy a new radio does those controllers no longer work? The volume button, mode button, and the selector button? THats what is really making not want to uppgrade.

I believe it'll work with no problems on a Scion or Eclipse headunit just like stock.

For the other brands you will need a seperate integration kit so that it will work. There are a couple of vendors that make these kits.
