'08 4Runner V6 Limited - NO NAV???

Ok I had the same problem back in '05 when I bought my V6 4Runner Limited. I was told that the V6 cannot be purchased with the nav system and backup camera. Only the V8 is sold with nav and camera. I called countless dealers and got different answers from all of em. Needless to say I wound up getting my V6 without nav.

I am now about to purchase the '08 4Runner Limited V6. Once again I am told it is not sold with nav. Is this true? I am from the NYC area so any local help would be highly appreciated. I find it highly annoying that I have to buy a V8 to get nav and camera. I dont need a V8. I dont need to spend extra money on gas. I dont tow anything either.

Can anyone please clarify this mystery for me once and for all. Thank you very much.

Find a new dealer, go out of state if you have to. You can get your Navi with Cam on any Limited. I know they have them optioned like that everywhere that I've seen here in MD.
 
Oh BTW, another thing to consider is to go to dealership that you would rather deal with and see if they can arrange some kind of transfer or exchange for you with another dealer (probably in another region) that would have what you're looking for.
 
It's all up to your regional distributor. Like you, various dealers told me different things, many said can't get a V6 with nav, only V8 Limiteds.

I was in the same situation when I bought mine and toyed with the idea about getting the V8 to have nav. Not to start V8 vs. V6 debate, but I don't tow, thus I don't have a need for the V8. My sales rep was willing to order my 4Runner to what I requested. Needless to say, I got what I wanted in a little under three months from the time I requested what I want to delivery. The dealer might be hesitant to do an order because your vehicle eats up one of their allocations until it's fulfilled. So if the dealer moves a lot of 4Runners, that's one fewer 4Runner on their lot giving their other customer an addtional choice.
 
I had the same issue.... except for different options. I wanted a Sport V8 with NAV. Basically a decked out Sport with every opt possible. Since I produce all the commercials for a local dealer in town he gave me the skinny... We all know that only certain models only exisit in certain regions, and that only certain packages ship with certin models.... thats just supply and demand. But instead of having something shipped from a different region and accrue shipping charges, loose holdbacks, and end up with a runner that was only close to what i was looking for... he just went ahead and ordered me exactly what I wanted. The down side is it could take a couple of months depending on thier allocation and the time of year.... but the up side is I got everything I wanted and nothing i didn't. I'm sure most dealerships will not like to do this for you because it takes one car away from thier allocation and it also prevents them from getting rid of a car on the lot.... but in the end they would much rather give in than have you walk to another dealership. I guess in thier eyes its more of a courtesy than a requirement.

I didn't know you could get the NAV w/ Sport Edition in any US market? Is this new for 08?
 
We were planning on getting one with Navigation, but with learing about the Eclipse unit, i'll be getting that instead. Does anyone know if its a waste to get the Sirius install then if i'm planning on going for the Eclipse aftermarket Nav/headunit?

Eclipse navigation systems are set up for Sirius already. You just need to buy the plug-in Sirius tuner and you're good to go. I think it's a little over $100....
 
Thanks, Sounds like the Eclipse is the way to go. I was looking at a pioneer model but it was roughly the same cost as the OEM Navi.

Now that i think about it. Since we are going to get the stock stereo, do i want to get the JBL system with the 6 disc changer? Does the JBL come with 2 additional speakers or is that standard in a limited model? And is there any difference in speaker quality between the JBL special setup minus the Navi, or are the speakers all the same?

You should definitely try to avoid the JBL system altogether. Do they still offer a non-JBL stereo in the 4Runner? If so, try to get it. If you do manage to get the standard stereo, you have a bunch of different options to make everything plug-n-play, especially if you want to add Parrot Bluetooth to your system. If you need details, let me know. I just switched my OEM navigation for an Eclipse AVN6620 with Parrot Bluetooth. I managed to set everything up where it just plugs together with the proper harnesses.
 
I have a 2007 Sport Edition with nav (and the backup camera). I didn't have to special order it as it was already on the dealer lot.

I saw you are from the NYC area, I got my truck at Prestige Toyota in Ramsey, NJ (Rte 17, north bound side) ask for Andy. You might want to give them a look.

My entire family has purchased cars from them (Dad - 07 Avalon, Mom - 08 Highlander, Brother - 07 Camry V6, Me - 07 T4R SE). They ended up ordering my brothers car exactly how he wanted it because it wasn't on the lot. He had to wait three months or so for delivery...

Yes I ordered a 2008... You can get any option that the website says you can get.... It all just depends if the dealership wants to carry a car with those options on the lot based on what he can sell. When I bought my tacoma back in 2000, I had to drive to Arizona to get a 4x4 with standard transmission because no dealer in vegas would carry one.

I say... if you are as picky as me... then do all the website searches and deal with the dealership that has what you want, or just custom order it and wait the 3 months. But you do stand to spend a few extra bucks if you do a dealer trade.
 
When I was researching my 06 Nav was only available with the limited models. Sounds like that in 07 they made the nav available in the other models.
