08 4Runner vs Suburu Impreza

Driving back from Snowbird yesterday to Park City. Got off the highway and was driving in the left hand lane (thru traffic lane not turning lane) and some guy tried to take a left hand turn in front of me from the other direction. Hit him at about 35-40 mph. Caved in the whole passenger side of his newer Impreza from the front door to the headlight. Axle was totally caved and it was leaking fluids. Don't have any pictures of the Suburu, wish I did.

Mine was drivable once I ripped the bumper off and cut the wheel well shields out of the way. Here are some pics of the damage. Everyone was okay, he admitted fault and was apologizing profusely. Got 4 more days of skiing then I have to head back to CO. Truck drives straight as an arrow still, and no leaking fluids so far so seems okay. Anything else I should check? Also there's going to be some snow showing up tomorrow, anything I should be protecting/covering up in the engine bay for highway snow storm driving?

Only metal that looked bent was the front bumper support and it looks like one of my radiator lines might have been pushed in a bit. Fortunately my other boss owns an auto body shop in Denver so he's going to take care of the work. Wondering if it's time to move to a metal bumper. My lift and tires definitely helped keep me up above any serious damage.

I'd secure your headlights real well and make sure they are aligned properly before heading home. In case you hit weather or drive at night, you'll be able to (1) see ok, and (2) not blind everyone else on the road.

Sucks that it happened, but perfect time to have someone else buy you a nice new metal bumper.

Thanks for the good vibes. The other guy's insurance is covering it 100% so it's going well so far. Anyone have any suggestions for metal bumpers without the cattle guards? I know I've seen some on here, but can't remember what brand they were.
Thanks again guys
