Limited 08 with:

Power sunroof
Cargo/Floor mats
Xreas suspension
Rear spoiler

Seems dealer invoice is: 35,748
Customer cashback is: -1,500

Dealer wants $500 over invoice for: $34,748

Does that sound like a good deal?

Thanks!

If the dealer told you what "dealer invoice" is, then check with another source such as KBB or Edmunds. Generally speaking, a Limited should have about $4500 between invoice and MSRP.
$500 over invoice is fair, as long as the invoice number is accurate.

As long as the "invoice" $$$ are accurate and you can verify them... Offer the dealer to pay the "invoice" price, and see what he says - he'll still be making money on the deal.

A "dealer" invoice is completely bogus. I wouldn't trust it. YOu need to find out the true cost of the vehicle to the dealer. In Canada, the True cost to Dealer and the sticker price is about 4500 for a sport edition. The so called dealer invoice would not reflect that.

Still seems high. As posted in another thread, I recently purchased from Fitzmall:

2008 LTD 4WD, V6
Included the following packages:
FE
NV
QV
RL
TO
CF
DK
WL
DELIVERY (685)

Total MSRP 42,380XV Discount - $1085.00
TOTAL ADJUSTED MSRP - $41,295
TOYOTA CASH BACK - $1500.00
TOTAL PAID - $35,463 + $99 FEE + PA TAXES

Thanks all for the input...

V6 4x4... The invoice price I got was from running through the model on carsdirect.com MSRP for that model is $39,459 and invoice via carsdirect.com is $35,748 (not counting the $1500 cash back). Again his quote was $34,748.

So they aren't trying to throw in stuff like advertising, holdback, and all of that other garbage?

I had a dealer from here try to sell me one, and they tried to tack on TONS of bogus fees. I asked them if they were seriously trying to pass on those fees, and they just totally sidestepped the question. NO SALE FOR THEM.

That seems to be the new way to do it. Claim you are selling at about invoice, then claim the invoice includes a couple of thousand in "junk fees". Car dealers are turning into the new mortgage brokers it seems.

Best of luck. Don't get taken. Remember, if dealers have stuff left over in about July they will be desperate to get rid of it, especially if gas continues to climb.

Could not agree more - that was one reason that it was worthwhile driving three hours to Maryland. Only fee was that $99 that was posted upfront on the web site.

Did you get it from Fitzmall Jimmy? They seem to be really upfront about things, at least as far as their website goes they are. I wish they had dealerships like that near Utah so I could get a deal.

I wish more dealerships would see the light and just go for pure volume, rather than having salesmen sniping. The salesmen would rather lose a sale for the dealership entirely and have you go somewhere else, than to let another employee in their very own dealership get the deal.

The whole system is wacky.

Fitzmall it was. I did get the hard sell on a "tire/wheel" protection package from the F&I person til I told her she was really beginning to irritate me. Small potatos really compared to most dealership experiences. Deal was exactly as advertised.

As nearly as I could figure it I saved around $1500 over the best price I could get in the Philly burbs. Would certainly do it again.
