08 Urban Runner ipod?

I picked up my 08 Urban Runner about 3 weeks ago, and have been looking for an ipod adapter for it. What a pain in the backside!

So, I checked in with 3 different Toyo Dealers to start out with. They have the Stock Ipod Adapter for the JBL and non-JBL decks, but nobody seems to have any clue on what to do with the Tom Tom unit.

The unit's made by Eclipse, so I checked in with Circuit City (who's a local Eclipse dealer), and tried out the Eclipse IPC006, which, after half of my runner was tore apart, didn't work for the change in my pocket.

So back to the question at hand. Does anyone have any idea what adapter will work with this thing? I put a call into the Toyo Parts department on the Regional basis, and haven't heard bupkis from them. Anyone out there have any success? I don't care if it's genuine Toyo, or if it's aftermarket, I just want to find something that will work with the deck!

If you have any info, it'd be greatly appreciated.

PS- The dude who was tearing into my runner said that the truck was configured for an Eclipse deck (Pre-wire is different I guess), and I could hot swap any Eclipse Deck into it. Since the thing's supposed to be ready for the iPod, there should be some simple solution out there in the ether somewhere...

The Urban Runner unit is basically an Eclipse AVN2210p. Wiring might be slightly different for the Toyota version but Eclipse sells a custom cable to connect an ipod -- the iPC-107p. Did you check to see if that'll work? Costs about $30 from most decent car audio retailers but connects to the back of the unit so you'll have to tear things apart again!

Here'a a quote from Crutchfield:

"Once your iPod's connected to the Eclipse, you can access all of the iPod's functions with the controls on the stereo. Album title, artist name, or track information show up on the display of the Eclipse's built-in TomTom navigator, so you'll be able to find the music you want quickly. The adapter will even charge your iPod while it's connected. "

I took a look at it when It was torn apart- The IPC107p uses a 2.5mm mini-jack and 2 wire taps. The back of the Toyo unit doesn't have this mini-jack connector.

The eclipse Tech support rep said it's basically the same unit, but it's spec'd out a little differently, and wired differently on the connection panel on the backside. He said the IPC adapter won't work on it.

i have the same 4runner. My HU has the jack on the back (small black jack next to other jacks) and I used the cable from Eclipse bought thru Crutchfield. It works but with one annoying feature. every time you start the truck it starts playing the Ipod from the first song alphabetically on your Ipod. I will never be able to listen to Abacab again. I have since pulled the HU and installed a Kenwood 7120 to save my sanity.

Ipod song list restart

I just installed the IPC-107P ipod connection in my UR last night. I too have the problem when I turn off the runner and restart. I get to hear the first song on my ipod everytime. I think I might have a quick solution.
This will only work if you have the eclipse nav unit set to shuffle your song list from your ipod. All I did was make a 1 second mp3 sound file with no sound and imported it into itunes then put it into my ipod. The trick is to name the song title A, band A and ablum A. Now when you start your runner it will play that 1 sec mp3 file and move to the next shuffled song. You shouldnt notice that 1 sec mp3 file other than it shows it for 1 sec on your nav then moves on.
Hope this helps!
