Problem is whether you like it or not, it is one of the most veristal vehicles in the world, how many other vehicles are:
Commercial Vans
Pickup Trucks
Converitbles
Station Wagon's
Military Vehicles
Airport Tugs
Safari Vehicle
And a really good offroader
Besides the fact that it LHD to RHD is a pretty simple swap, accessorys are basically bolt on and despite the rest of the vehicles made by its manufacturer it is quite reliable.
I would like to know why it doesnt deserve it????
And it gets 24mpg's

I have no opinion on LRs. My last British cars were a 67 Austin Healy 3000 and a 70 Triumph TR6. Both good cars for their time. My son in law owns a Land Rover cuz he is in Houston where 4 wheelers are not needed but dealers exist. He got it cuz it has the BMW type warranty. 4 years of free maintenance then trade in time.

Yeah, we have built up a pretty nice community here, some of us also chat a bit on facebook and other forums so we get to know each other pretty well for just chatting on forums etc. Of course this board has also led to a bunch of us meeting up and 4wheelin/helping work on our 4runners for maintenance etc.
A great place to be if ask me!
oh, and as far as the 1st post goes, I can see most of those vehicles making the list, but have you even seen a Ford Transit Connect Wagon in the states??? seriously? and how does a vehicle like the Honda Fit make a list of the vehicles that "do it all" maybe in its own category of sprite cans with engines, but there are so many versatile autos out there and they choose these? The Ford Flex has to be the ugliest car out there, that should win in that category.
I seriously am wondering what the author of that article was on when they wrote it? or was it like 10 min before they went to "press" ??/

Yeah, my username is Johnsd90 which is me then D90 which is a Defender 90...plus i talk bout them a lot.

It probably does deserve to be there but... The list is a "made now", available in the U.S. list.
IMHO they could've combined the 4Runner and the GL and just listed the GX. This will start a flame war: The pick-up entry should be a Avalanche or V8 Sport-trac, not the Ridgeline. They both tow better and have a real t-case with low-range.
The other vehicle that's sort-of efficient and almost infinitely configurable is the Sprinter. I have seen them as buses, campers, work van's and luxury executive transport (usually under the M-B name). I even saw an ambulance Sprinter.
They get crazy good mileage for big box. They'll even tow the same as a V6 4Runner (on less fuel!)

It was a Euro vehicle for years but it's here, now. Several in metro-Atlanta. In Europe they're a 4cyl gas or diesel. We only get the gas variant.
I am not sure where they are manufactured but they are for sale here.

Wheres the ford superduty or the Raptor? GTR would go nice on this list as well, however I am very happy about more good press about the 4runner.

Only the american models with the american V8 in them caught fire. And I suppose you found another contender, but i doubt there is another.

What a completely useless and utterly pointless article! The best of all worlds in a single package? Yeah right. There's no such thing as a car that 'does it all', because 'all' is so many things. Comparing a Fit to a 4Runner to a Transit is just moronic. They all do well in their intended market. The Fit does NOT perform well offroad. The 4Runner is NOT an economical city grocery getter. The Transit is NOT a family touring vehicle.
This article is nothing more than a list of cars under $50k the author would personally consider buying for himself. There's only one way to see what cars are truly the best and that's sales figures.
