100,000 mile update

So I recently hit 100,000 miles on my 2003 (bought in September 2003) and decided to run some numbers. I'm sure I'm not the only person who keeps track of everything, but it's pretty interesting to see everything.

Gallons of Gas consumed: 5,070.587 gallons
Total Amount spent on gas: $14,249.98
Average Lifetime MPG: 19.737 mpg
Lowest MPG: 13.130 mpg
Highest MPG: 25.560 mpg
Average Lifetime Gas Price: $2.817
Lowest Gas Price: $1.839 (January 2004)
Highest Gas Price: $4.799 (June 2008)
Total Maintenance Costs: $5,305.22
Total Warranty Costs: $528.03

As far as your total Maintenance costs, was that pretty much just from scheduled/routine Maintenance???:shrug:
 
That's awesome how you keep track of everything little thing. Should you ever decide to sell her, whoever gets your 4R will indeed be fortunate.

Thanks for sharing, this inspires me to open a file only for my truck! But I NEVER plan on selling my 4R!!!! :biggrin2:

$5K in maintenance?? That's about $59 per month!! Not bad! You have no idea how much it has cost me in maintenance and repairs I had on my former 1997 Grand Cherokee................:vader:
 
Wow, thanks for sharing that info! Goes to show that the total cost of ownership with a 4Runner including maintenance, depression, etc. is probably best in class (or close to it) among SUV's.

I had a '97 GC as well, and a '00 GC. They both became money pits after about 60k-70k miles. Needless to say, that is why I own a Toyota now. ;):

(I don't care if someone flames me for that statement) :rockthrow:
 
Well, let's see, you have 100,000 miles now, congratualtions, you are now finished with the "break in" period and can now drive your TR4 as you wish. We will check back in with you at 300,000 miles.

Thanks for sharing and keeping records. Do you plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off? It would be interesting to see how long these cars last until they need major overhaul/repair, but since its a Toyota my expectations are very high.

Moderately off topic...although. We took our 96 land cruiser to 250k miles with regular DIY maintenence, never really had any terrible pricy issues at all, ran great! Toyota FTW. We got rid of it though for something more economical, and then bought the T4R a couple years ago

LOL. I showed this to my wife for further reassurance that the 2005 4Runner with 88,900 miles we just bought is still practically "brand new" :)

I keep track of similar data on my 4Runner with gas consumption. I didn't track gas price (not much I can do, at the mercy of the pump when the 4R is thirsty) high, low and average, total maintenance and warranty costs (don't have any other than DYI oil changes so far).

Including the other details wouldn't be hard for me to do. Gotta love Excel.

I had an 01 briefly....it disappeared and its been toyota ever since (FJ, taco, camry, a 4th gen, now my 5th gen) I probably wont ever go back either.

I had a 97 as well. V8 5.2L. I had it for awhile then a tundra rear ended me.
 
Pretty cool. Have say I sure hope my maint. costs are less. I had an 04 Ranger 4x4 that I sold last year with 245k on it and my maint. costs were only about that high. I do most the work myself so I bet my 4r will be even better.

Our 4Runner just turned 100K on Sunday and I added an FJ as my daily driver 2 months ago. I previously owned a Wrangler and enjoyed it as well but the FJ better suits my needs at this point in life. Our 4Runner has been trouble free since purchased new and I expect the same from the FJ. Also fully expect the 4Runner to continue rolling on and it will be a part of the family for a long time, probably till the wheels fall off.
 
Never have met anyone who keeps records like you do. Much props to you!

Also, you're one of the few individuals I know that buys a car brand new and keeps it!
