100/% carnuba... really... is there such a thing?

I was told that there is no such thing as 100% carnuba in a past or a liquid , because it would be as hard as a rock-which carnuba is.. the highest you can get is maybe half of that.. because you need to be able to apply it. so if it's that hard you wont be able to... zymol included in the wax that goes for over 1K.

I wouldn't put on 100% even if it were possible. Carnuba is such a ridiculous dust magnet as it is- the last thing it needs is a boost in that area.

It's true, no such thing as 100% carnuba. 'Nuba in its natural state is hard as a rock and needs solvents and all sorts of chemicals to make it remotely workable. Although it does give well prepared paint a deep wet shine and color, synthetic formulas and polymers are getting much better at matching carnuba's looks. The synthetics have better durability too outlasting carnuba easily as well as excellent dust repellancy.

Thanks for the replies... I wonder why it attracts dust so much...If you have a nice clean smooth finish..i'm thinking that a spritz of water or spray shine and a Microfiber towel 15 minutes your ready to be seen out in Public again!
I love Nuba... I have to rermember not to lay it on so thick though.... smells good to.. I think i still have some of the Zymol "Japon" still in my fridge..'

I think it has to do with the material in carnuba waxes, as well as the electrical charge it gets when you buff it off with a towel, similar to rubbing a balloon on your head. Synthetic waxes such as Zaino's does this much less, hence less dust attraction. Makes no difference on light colored vehicles, which is why carnuba is fine for those, whereas darker vehicles look best with synthetics.

Synthetic huh? i never thought of that i have a black runner but i still have my zymol Japon to use up first..

i believe carnauba provides the best shine and ease of applicaion/removal compared any other product. i like using it because there is very little solvent in top quality carnauba plus it is inexpensive. i hate smelling the solvent coming off of the synth polishes avail. today. as for the dust attraction, i have not noticed carnauba exhibit this any more than other products. if it is related to static, the charge can easily be disbursed with a quick wipe with detailers spray.

you will notice manufacturers market their products "made with 100% pure carnauba". they add a lot of solvent to make it workable. top quality carnauba has an oily-waxy feel. it spreads like butter over paint and gives a warm gloss unlike any other product.

thanks for the reply..I like to use the good stuff.. I used to use mothers...actually still have some.. I like to use the zymol and the Griots garage stuff...I've seen some of the really exspensive zymol stuff but the local places do not carry it it would have to be special order. 1K for car wax!!! goes on like butter and smells great!.

Thanks for the reply on the Carnuba. I learned a lot..Now i know why some of it is so expensive.I know that Carnuba has it's place still.. synthetics are i guess more popular, but i think that that since Carnuba has been around for so long it works and will continue to work for me.
