12/3/05 Tech meet

I'm shooting for 10am tomorrow . . . . . long story short, the store I ordered my CB from dropped the ball and didn't ship it. So I cancelled the order and bought it from radio shack for about $10 more. So, the plan is to hopefully install the CB and do the diff. breather mod tomorrow. Plus, I have an idea about ground effects lighting that I need your opinions on . . . see you tomorrow.

I have been researching the lights all week. We will need to share some ideas. Damn I wish I could make it...

I'll catch up with you early next week with a PM or something . . . . I'll see what everyone else thinks about my ideas and we can share . . . . too bad you can't stop by for a little bit. :(

Welp... It was a small group. Koz, Ed and Karl came by and we hung out for a bit. Karl always seems to have some stuff to do on his truck :p.

Chunderboy wasn't around so Karl (ksneubec) reluctantly stepped in as the "4runner bitch of the day" :D

Koz took some pics of me tearing into Karl's interior and I took some pics of something special. I'll post up later tonight.

It was good seeing you guys again. What happened to everyone else? I hear Koz got a bigass bbq grill so the next meet is at his place :D.

I got stuck in Wichita, KS. At the airport right now waiting for my plane. Can't wait to get back to Jersey. There is absolutely nothing to do here.

That sucks. Hope you get home safely.

Until then, here's Karl's upgrade...

A couple things:

Good to see Bobby, Koz, Ed. Missed the rest of you guys.

Drew, you owe me a big one. Being t4r bitch in your absence is not fun. :)

Bobby- thanks for the tires, but . . . . .

Remember what you did to Scott's XFM reciever??? Yeah, well, I get a fire call in town today, so I turn on my front LED grille lights, and NOTHING HAPPENS . . . . .

Who was the last person playing with the wires up front?????
Fortunately for you, I have 8,000 other lights :)

I'm guessing one of the wires got loose, I'll check tomorrow . . . .

Tires look great Karl...how do you like them so far? Did you get enough snow to try them out? Sorry to hear about the lights...I'm sure it's just a loose wire or something.

I did a little off-roading near my house, and I love the tires. Look great, handle well in the snow, and they don't seem to be very loud on the pavement.

Carl,

Glad to see you took advantage of the great deal on the Nittos.

Wires in the front? Oh, you mean the spaghetti!:happens:

Koz

Heh.

I'm usually pretty careful with wiring. I just ziptied the mess together so it would flap around and get cut. The only other wiring I can think of is the harness next to the passenger side. I plugged that in and it was fine unless it can be plugged in upside down. And I tapped into the unused heated seat power. Give me a call if you can't trace it.

Glad you like the tires. I thought they looked pretty damn good once they were on. Much better with black walls :D.

Koz - How's the grille? When's the BBQ? :D

3-6" of snow tonight to tomorrow :awais: :D :D :D

Haa Baby! I Christened it Saturday night (after assembly) with some Filet Mignon. :yummie: Whenever you guys are ready, Let

Alrighty, got the front grille LEDs working again- just a connection that was pulled loose . . . all is right in the world of bright, flashy lights again . . . .

I also installed the CB antenna onto the front brush guard, on the horizontal plate that the PIAAs are mounted on . . . just drilled the hole right into the front of the platform, which is angled downward slightly, so that when the antenna is screwed in (a fiberglass top-loaded, like Bobby's), it is angled slightly away from the front of the truck. I'm afraid to turn the unit on and screw it up before it is tuned, but the communications store that sold me the antenna (and gave me a full refund on all the stuff I bought already, even what we opened), will tune it for free for me . . . .

Looking forward to using it on an off-road trip this weekend, if any of you are bored this Saturday you can come up to my neck of the woods for a good, stock-vehicle trip. (2 hours from Bobby's garage).

I'll report back about the tires, but so far, they are great. Thanks for everyone's help, esp. Bobby's.

Glad to hear it was just a pulled connector.

As long as the antenna is connected, you don't have to worry about screwing up the cb. Usually, the antennas are tuned ok from the factory so it should work but still get it tuned.

How are the tires in the snow?

The tires SEEM pretty good in the snow, but you guys down there got hit harder last night than we did- we actually didn't get anything. So I only drove a bit on Sunday AM when we got an inch or so. They seemed to handle great though. I took them off-roading in the snow too, and they handled well. Love them!
