'12 Pathfinder vs '12 4Runner

Hello folks,

I'm in the market for a new SUV and have narrowed the selection down to the PF and 4R. The best quotes I've been able to get on both vehicles so far are:

27.7k... Pathfinder S 4wd
33.7k... 4Runner SR5 4wd

I realize the 4R is the better built vehicle but is it worth the extra lump of cash? I couldn't really tell that big a difference from the test drives, but my fear is that the Nissan would be more worse for wear after a few years of ownership.

Have you Googled Pathfinder recalls, problems and complaints? While there aren't hardly any for 4runners there are a ton for all Nissan products. Once I was thinking about getting an Xterra but after checking I found that it had recalls on every part of the vehicle, engine, transmission, driveline, axles, fuel system, electrical system, even the low fuel warning light! You might think Nissan vehicles are Japanese and should be reliable but it turns out they are made in the USA! Yes a 4runner can cost 40% more than anything else but you get what you pay for in terms of reliability and problem free ownership.

I work for Nissan and previously with Toyota (12 yrs), I own a Honda, Toyota and Nissan.
The 03-09 4runner is amazing in terms of reliability but every vehicle has its own issues. Nissan is a good company that's makes a good car. To throw down a car company that has increased sales over the last 5 years is nonsense.
The new pathfinder will be a good product.
I love the 4th gen 4runner but hate the 5th gen. Im not accepting of Toyota new line.
Bottem line get what you like

Nissan are crooks. After seeing what they are doing here in Arizona about their failing Leafs I wouldn't buy any kind of Nissan.
Several families here have returned their cars already and made Nissan buy them back under the state's Lemon Law because the heat is killing the batteries and mileage drops to just 40 miles or less but Nissan just lies about it not being a problem saying that it's due to high mileage, which has been debunked. There have been so many complaints they might end up having to take all of them back from dealers. The same thing is happening in California too.

The leaf is just a mistake, but they have big money invested in the leaf so they have to roll with it.
Nissan is not running away from any leaf issues
