120000 mile service for 2004 4runner?

can anybody tell me what needs to be done for the 120k maintenance on 2004 4wd V6?
I'm taking it to a local mechanic and want to make sure he uses the right stuff

oil change (what type of oil and any preferred brands)
transmission (what type and brand)
spark plugs, etc
rotate tires,

anything else


the owner's manual was in the glove compartment but i couldn't find the maintenance booklet. this is my first 4runner so i don't have a clue what products should be used on it. I checked the toyota owner's website and they don't have the booklet there. Any suggestions on where i could get one? Should i just call toyota or is there a place on the web?

You bought a 2004 at 120k miles? Did you not read at all before buying? They require a complete engine rebuild at that time due to a shim that was out of spec.

Big $$ pit 2004's are.

I read about the head gasket, transfer case, and the catalytic converter. I did see some engine rebuilds but there were a lot of people who seemed to be doing ok.

Don't listen to clockwork. All evidence points to him misleading others in the past. I reported this post with the following:

Yea. I agree. Don't worry or fret. Just do the regular maintenance. Cars break.. all cars break, and only god knows when. Don't let him scare you with his doomsday predictions. He literally worships his engine and I suspect, would like to make sweet sweet love to it if it were possible and as such, he is heavily biased.

My sister's 2004 T4R V6 had 202K before she traded it in. No problems with the V6. We changed the sparks plugs, struts/shocks, front brakes, and routine maintenance. It was still in great shape with many more miles to go.

Also, new Michelin's LTX M/S tires at 55K, 115K, 180K.

Ice pretty much summed it up with all the things you should take a look at. As far as routine maintenance goes I would change all fluids out (oil, diffs, transfer case, radiator, power steering, brakes, maybe transmission).

Called to have the mechanic check all the fluids and to change them if they need it. Hopefully they are all good or can at least last till the next oil change.

Damn, just saw the receipt of the service i just had. Mechanic used NGK platinum spark plugs. Will this be okay for the engine? I don't know a lot about spark plugs and just wondering if i should get them changed out.

N/M - just visited the NGK webpage and they have the NGK laser platinum spark plugs as being compatible with the 4.0 V6 1GR-FE FI.
