120V Outlet Malfunction

On my Limited 4runner I have the AC120V option which has a wall outlet (120V) in the center console. It has worked fine ever since I got the car; however, now it all of a sudden decided to blow fuses. It has a 15A fuse and everytime I put a new fuse in, it INSTANTLY blows it. I do not want to increase the fuse size because I know something is wrong and increasing the size of the fuse will not solve it.
Has anyone had this problem before? My only guess is that there is a short somewhere?

And no I am not overloading it, all I'm plugging in it is a iPhone charger.

have you tried other devises? try a shop lamp or something simple. ive heard of iphone charges shorting out.
 
^^ x2. I use my iPhone charger on mine all the time and have not once had an issue with blowing fuses. There must be a short or bad inverter.
 
Thats strange. I can see it doing that on excessive uses with excessive loads. but I consistently use mine with only the iPhone charger. I wonder if it is a flaw.

Anyone use theirs frequently and not have any problems?

And do any of you know where I can get some info on how to remove the inverter to check it out, and perhaps order a new one. That outlet was really convenient!
 
I use mine alot to charge my blackberry. I love it, its a great feature. Ive had my sister use it for her laptop on long trips as well. I haven't had a problem nor have I heard about anyone else having a problem but its still possible.
 
new owner here, I have a 2006 4r sport and it has the 115v switch on the dash but I haven't spotted the outlet yet. No manual either... any clues where to look? It is not in the center console unless it is hidden somewhere.

On my '03, it's on the front wall of the big center console compartment, under the arm rest. If it's not there, I'm not sure where it might be.

120V AC Blown

I have a 2014 4Runner SR5 and the 120V AC blew last week. Bought CPO and someone put pennies in the console 120V AC. When I got them out, the power source didn't work. Looked in fuse box and didn't see any blown fuses. Please advise.
