-12mm Offset Wheel Pics

I did a search in the wheel forum and there is a sh&tload to sift thru. I'm running 17x8 0mm with 285/70/17 right now and am looking at going up to a 305 tire, but feel the 17x8 would be too narrow so looking at 17x9 with -12mm to push the wheel/tire out a bit. Anyone running something like this? I have a body mount chop and will trim fenders a bit as the tires rub now at full articulation on plastic pieces that can be cut. But I want to see how far they would really stick out and if it would look silly. I'm looking to stay with the same Level 8 MK6 as I just like the looks, just different size and offset. Thanks

And no...don't want to run 35's as my 33's now have gotten me everywhere I need to go so figure at least go to 34's. And yes, running V8 and 4.56 gears

My XD 301 are 17x9 -12. I'm currently running 295/70-17, 3" lift, 1" body lift, achieved no rub at full flex. For the front: removal of the mudflaps, front fender liner pushed forward, trimming of the front bumper lower edge, trimming of the fender flare behind the front tire, pinch weld flattened, body mount chop. For the rear removal of the mudflaps, trimming of the rear bumper.

The only interference I have is front inner edge of tire hits the sway bar (yes I know who keeps those, I like the front one) at full lock at ride height no flex, this is most likely because of the 4 degrees of caster meaning that when the wheels are turned it's cambered in quite a bit. Drooped or flexed the tire center line is above or below that arm of the sway enough it doesn't really touch. I'm just leaving that as is but a 305 wide would make it worse.

I don't think they look silly at all, I think they are perfect. I don't know why all the Toyota specific brands make 17x8 +0 wheels. Most instagram bros will add a 1.25-1.5 spacer on those anyway.

This is GREAT info! Thank you! I wonder how much worse the rubbing would be without the body lift. I really don't want to run a body lift. I was going to trim my front fender flare as it rubs now anyway so I'll pound the weld flat as well. I have a Demello front and will be getting a CBI rear so bumper trimming won't be an issue. I like BOTH my sway bars, yep, I'm weird but I'm a spirited driver that came with me from my Audi days. I guess it's that 1" extra of wheel, even though its -12mm offset that causes that rub on the sway. Well...and wider tire too. Can I get by with no body lift with a 305, that is the question.

Given the amount of people that stuff 35's with little or no body lift I'm sure it can be done. Especially with bumpers. That leaves your only issue to be rear of front fender wells - flat pinch weld and trim fender flare. Others also complain about having to move the rear wheels back in the wheel well to keep the tire out of the rear doors with adjustable/extended rear control arms but I haven't encountered that issue, all my rub is on the rear bumper plastic.

Yeah, I have no desire to go 35's and currently most my rubbing in the rear is on the bumper like you mention. So looks like I'll go 17x9 -12 with a 305/17 and see what happens! Thanks!

How do you like your new tires compared to the Nittos? I'm running Ridge Grapplers and they have been great on and off road, however they are pretty chewed up from the rocks/slate/etc I've thrown at them in the Sierras, Moab and CO mountains. They are pretty warn down tho too so that may have something to do with it.

The cooper stt pro's are definitely louder and heavier, the bigger sizing put me on the cusp of where I need a re-gear due to hunting on the interstate. They really do shine in the mud though, very impressive compared to the Exo Grapplers, but for 99% of the time the Exo Grapplers did great, wore well 40k miles and still lots of tread left to sell used, decently quiet, great traction on all terrain except sloppy mud. I would have bought them again if they were offered in the sizing I was looking for but may go to ridge grapplers next time around. I just didn't like their Florida Georgia line advertising lol

I only had rubbing on the rear bumper until I got my steel bumper and trimmed it back. No rubbing on the bumper now, but more rubbing on the door than before. This is with a 1.5" BL.

With my -12mm SCS wheels the 315's just tuck inside the wheel well. (Other than the door rubbing I mentioned)

If I didn't have the BL my tires would probably be rubbing the inside top of the wheel well and I would need to space the bumpstops down.
-12mm is as much poke as I would want to try and fit the tires behind the lip of the wheel well.

When I run 35s I'll be on 17x9 with a -38 offset. All things considered it should provide me an inch or slightly more clearance from SPC UCA'S. Hopefully I can get away without using camburgs.
