Hey I'm looking to upgrade to 17" wheels so I have more Load Range "C" tire options. I'm looking at tire size 285/70R17 and I really like the SCS F5 wheels. But the change from my current wheel backspacing and offset is confusing me. The SCS F5 wheels would be 17"x8.5" with 4.30" backspacing and -10mm offset. But I don't know how that would look. I currently have FJ80 wheels which are 16"x8", 4.50" backspacing, 0mm offset and 285/75R16 tires. I really like how this combination looks, but I only have Load Range "E" tire options. Based on my calculations the 17"x8.5" wheels with 4.30" backspacing, -10mm offset and 285/70R17 tires would poke out an additional 0.49" from my current FJ80 wheel and 285/75R16 tires setup. Is that too much additional poke out? Would that cause more problems? I know I have to deal with the front pinch weld area no matter what. It looks like a lot of Gen 4 & Gen 5 people have this wheel and tire combination, but I can't find anything from the Gen 3 people. I already have all the supporting suspension upgrades (UCA + lifted). It seems like 4.5" backspacing and 0mm offset is the sweet spot for Gen 3's. Can anybody give me some advice? Thanks.
