So what's the new new ride?

I did a photoshoot with it today:

I won a silent auction to have an R8 for a week. Fun to drive, but I enjoy photographing it even more

I'm only 3 hours from Dallas if you need someone to drive it while you take pictures! :D

The story: on Aug 20th, I ordered a 2013 S4 (3.0L Supercharged V6) exactly to my specifications. Expected delivery was 3 months, and it arrived on Nov 21. In Oct, the dealership emailed me an invite to attend their "S Launch Party" to introduce the new S6, S7, and S8...all of which have the new bi-turbo 4.0L V8. The party was partnered with several fashion stores and a charity benefit. Silent auctions were underway to raise money for the charity.

I attended the event. Valet parking was done for all who attended. This is the only time my 4Runner has received valet treatment. The valet kid was impressed with the truck. :biggrin2:

Seeing how most people in attendance were very wealthy (half-percenters) and probably already had an exotic parked in their garage, and were bidding only on the fashion store gift certs and spa treatments, I ended up being the only person who bid on the R8-for-a-weekend auction. The tax-deductible minimum bid was $500.

The next week, my salesman called me with great news: when his director found out I was a current customer with an order in, the director decided to extend my R8 time to 7 days instead of just a weekend.

The R8 is my oldest son's fav exotic. He turned 16 last week and got his D.L. I let him drive the R8 last night. He was amazed.

Yes...my sons broke the previous backboard. The Homeowners Assoc sent us a letter telling us we were in violation because of a torn net and broken backboard.

I feel your pain, my boy and the neighbor boy setup an elaborate step system so they could dunk on ours and they managed to hang on the rim and snap the base of the pole and ripped the whole thing to the ground! They were VERY lucky one of them didn't get hurt pretty bad actually.

Damn HOAs man! I searched for the only neighborhood in my area without one and I'm glad I did, what a pain in the ass.
