14 TE Premium KDSS lean fix

You actually said I was spreading misinformation, not that the issue has been discussed "for ever." Notwithstanding what the intent of your original posting may have been, I would suggest that reasonable people can come do differing conclusions on this issue. With that said, I still believe that you are incorrect about the KDSS not being related to the passenger side lean.

(In my calm, cool and collected voice). Hahaha.

Not sure how I sound angry in a post stating facts, I was not insulting in any way. I have read countless threads regarding all of this and have discussed it in person "not on the internet forums" with many different people.
The lean has been discussed for ever, that is the point I was trying to make "in my non-angry voice"!

Regardless of what direction the vehicle is leaning towards, "yes" you are correct. The Toyota's/Lexus's equiped with KDSS lean the opisite way than vehicles non-equiped with KDSS.

They all lean, if you are checking it real closely. Heck, my driveways leans. So, I cannot actually notice anything. But the lean for sure is the topic of numerous threads and is the source of a lot of anxiety for some.

But the interesting footnote on the ARB website with regards to OME suspension. I had to spend the extra $8.55.

Footnote:
1. Vehicles with KDSS , must have 1 x OME 95pf5 spacer installed on the driver’s side to maintain correct trim.

So in this case, does anyone know if the trim pack is required to correct the lean for aethstetics or so the KDSS does not try to correct the lean?

Thoughts?

Depending on how full the gas tank is, what kind of load you have in the vehicle the lean will always be changing. I adjusted my coilovers so that with a full tank it leans a bit more driver side. By half a tank its about even. By the time I'm at 1/4 tank it leans to the passenger side a bit. I'm not sure a trim pack will eliminate the lean at all times.
But to clarify the point to my earlier post I don't think it's a "problem" or "flaw" due to having KDSS as it doesn't change anything in driving characteristics.
If you focus on the lean too much "KDSS" or "non-KDSS" it'll drive you crazy:loco:

My '08 had leaned to the drivers side. No KDSS, just had the lean. Our '14 leans to the pass. side. Is it noticeable? Yes, sometimes more so than others. However, it rides awesome, and I love KDSS. I can live with it for what it is, which is a nitpicky issue brought up over and over. If it bothers people enough to put band aids on it to level it so be it, but it will never be perfect. At the end of the day it's a machine made to take you from point A to point B. As long as the lean is within spec and not hurting anything, I say live with it.

Does the lean, or degree of lean, change depending on the level of the gas tank, number and weight of people in the car, etc, yes. Does it lean to the passenger side, yes. Is the passenger side lean a characteristic of KDSS, probably. Is the KDSS broken or flawed, no. Is it within spec, yes. Does it bother me, yes. Is it ridiculous that it bothers me, yes. Does the fact that it bothers me mean that I'm OCD, probably. Was I able to implement a solution that satisfied my OCD self, yes. Am I happier with the 4runner now, yes.

On a side note, I removed the OME spacer in the rear and put a 1/4" (1/2" lift) Toytec spacer on the front passenger side. Even better result.

Hi All, ya, I have lean and it doesn't bother me. However, went wheelin yesterday on a moderate trail (3.0 rating) and when we all got done and were airing back up; there were about 4 other guys looking at my truck and asking what's wrong with it. They all thought I had a busted shock or something; I looked at it and it did seem to lean fairly far to the right more than normal but I wasn't on real level pavement at the time. You could visual see that the clearance to the wheel well was far less than the drivers side. I thought something was odd as once I pulled into the paved lot to air back up it didn't drive quite right but then remembered I still had it in 4H and once shifted to 2H it was fine (some serious grip in 4H).

Didn't get a chance to snap any pics but was wondering if anyone experienced greater lean after Wheelin. When we drove it home the 100 miles and it was just fine and no issues; and when parked in the driveway it looked like the normal lean. Just thought it was odd it leaned greater lean than normal after wheelin. I have my first 5,000 miles service this Saturday and will have them check it to ensure it's within spec. thanks

From 1st gen to last they have leaned one direction or the other. If I see a 4Runner not leaning I think to myself there must be something wrong with that one.

My new one should be here today and it better lean or I'm not taking delivery! Wouldn't be a 4Runner if it didn't!

I have notice that mine leans the most if I'm off my meds for 2-3 days, once the crazy starts kicking back in.

I did start a thread earlier in the year about the lean to my 2014 SR5 Premium and I am happy to say that my problem has been solved!

With some meds and a bit of counseling, I was able to overcome my OCD and now I don't notice the lean anymore!

My new SR5 has a slight lean. No KDSS. My old '12 TE with KDSS had a lean. Add fuel, add cargo, add a big f@t ass and it will lean.

Has anyone had problems with the vehicle tracking straight with a lean+KDSS? Without diving too deep, my front passenger sits over 1/2 inch higher, and I'm wondering if that (i.e. the pressure from the sway bar) could be causing my truck to pull.

2016 TE w/kdss, Bilsteins 5100/wheelers 2.5” lift with JBA UCAs, and I have a 1/4” spacer front driver side and sit level. There is no blanket fix for the lean...the process is to install your lift, bring it down, drive it, allow time to settle, then add spacers accordingly. Anyone who thinks otherwise is not tracking correctly IMO.
