'15 headlights won't shut off

Reviving this thread from the dead...

I have stock headlights and this happened to me this today. I went to the doctor's office and came out a few hours later w/ the headlights and taillights on. I went back to work and pressed the lock button 2x and it didn't turn off the headlights and taillights.

Has anybody determined the root cause of this issue? I'd like to avoid disconnecting the negative terminal to resolve, especially if it's not a permanent fix.

Here I thought only European cars had quirky electronics???

My car is doing this too. I recently added leds maybe that is the issue?

Reviving this thread again, amazingly there isn't much data out there on this failure. My 2014 has been doing this intermittently for over a year. It's a hard failure now, won't go off with 2 lock button presses or the timer. I went into it with Techstream and set the timer to different intervals to no avail. I've reset the ECU multiple times and headlights are bone stock. Anyone have any constructive input on this? Really only a problem when it's light outside and raining, sometimes I forget to turn them off and it kills the battery.

Well I hate it when people don't update when they fix an issue so here it is. A year after my headlight issue has killed my battery a dozen times I've figured it out. The driver's door closed contact switch was intermittent... I noticed the dome light not coming on, swapped with passenger side and all good. Computer is looking for you to get out of the car before the headlights will follow their normal off cycle. 14 dollar switch and 5 minutes, who would've thought. Hope this saves someone a headache!!

Has anyone tried replacing the closed contact switch?

I just started having this problem on my 2015 Trail Premium. Battery died twice last week, then it started working again. Lights went off (unlocked) at home last night, but a coworker just told me my lights were on in the parking lot (locked). Had to turn them off manually. The only thing I've done electronically was a Unique Style Racing taillight mod, nothing with the headlights.

PS - the taillight mod was a 921 and 7440 LED switch that made my reverse lights super bright. One of the most practical mods out there.

I wish I had found this before going to the dealership for a three-hour $155 cruise. They blamed my aftermarket headlights that I installed a month before the issue. It would explain why I had the problem when the weather dropped to 5 degrees. Inside lights do not come on when the door is opened.
