15 inch rims

It seems like my 4runner came with 15 inch rims. The tire size on them is 225/75 - 15. I thought that all 3rd gens came with 16 inch rims??
I did a search and i think that someone said that you could go from this size to 265/75 - 16s. How is this possible? If my truck does indeed have 15s on it what is the biggest tire size I can go: 32/10.5?

YOu can go up just not down because of the brake calipers getting in the way. I have a 98 SR5 that came w/15's. I am currently running 31's with no issue's. I dont know about any bigger though.

I bought my 4runner used and it came with 235's on 15's. I recently got a set of 31x10.5 BFG all-terrains and I love the way they look on my truck. I actually personally like that tire size on the 15's over the 265's on the 16's because it makes the tires look more beefy, but that's just my preference. Just to give you a head's up though, you are going to get a little less gas mileage with the bigger tires, and you're going to lose a little power, but it's totally worth it....gives your truck a whole different feel. I bought mine at America's Tire Company and paid a few bucks more for their lifetime replacement warranty and it's totally paid off. Got two puncture flats in the last 6 months and they replaced them both no questions asked.

Thanks for letting me know. I used to have a 93 Chevy 4x4 with 33 inch BFG A/Ts so I know about changing tire size. I had two sets of BFGs, they're such great tires.
Hopefully, when I get some money together, I'll get some 31x10.5s.

In my '00 brochure it shows that 15" rims came std on the SR5s, but 16" rims came with most of the upgrade packages as well as on the Limiteds of course. I think this is the way it was for most if not all of the 3rd gen 4Runner years ('96-'02)

No problem. Yeah, the money was an definitely an issue for me too. I actually ended up buying them through a 6 month no interest credit plan they offered.
