15' Limited Cargo Light Mod

Hey guys,

So I own a 15' Limited and have been extremely impressed with this forum and it knowledge! There have been a ton of threads about cargo light mods but no one ever really had a permanent/factory looking solution. I wanted to change that.

(The forum doesn't size images properly so I'm posting links)

(ALSO: My phone made it look like these lights were blue, they are in fact white. 5000K white. Not 6000k blue.)

After

From backseat

From drivers side

From passenger side

Instead of posting individual pictures, I decided to put a full step-by-step in an imgur album (Theres a LOT). The cargo panel removal was easy. I just followed ANTMAN'S THREAD

Here is the step by step guide. Additional info is below.

I tried to figure out where you could mount a cargo light but I wasn't about to saw a hole in my headliner, especially in a brand new car. I saw a post about putting stick-on LED strips in the cargo area. Once I saw that picture, I knew there could be a better way. I chose the brake light access panel for two reasons. 1. It's easy to access, you just need a slim plastic panel tool to open it, 2. If I ever need to change it out or do something different it's reversible.

My first hurdle was finding appropriate lights. Flush Mount LED Bolt This company was incredible and their products are top notch.

Second, I needed to figure out how to hook these lights up so they would turn on with the factory lights when I opened the back door. This was the most challenging part of the mod. Not because the wiring was hard, it was fairly simple, but because I had to take apart the rear panel, run the wires, and then make sure that the rear window didn't interfere with anything.

Third, Once my wires were ran, I needed to figure out the layout of my LED's. Obviously, they needed to be mounted as high as possible. Lots of measurements, triple checking, and faith were involved inn drilling into new plastic panels.

Here is a list of the parts used for this mod:
LED's
Connectors
Super Glue
5/8" Drill Bit- PERFECT FIT FOR THESE PARTICULAR LED'S
Wire
Heat Shrink

If you guys have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you again to so many people on here for indirectly giving the instructions to take apart and improve my vehicle. I hope I can help anyone new do the same!

LASTLY: I'm in the process of a JBL sub replacement with with a JL 8w1 and a Jl xd 300/1. I'll do the same type thread again in the next week or so. I'M EXCITED!!!

I wish you people would just keep these Mods to yourself! Here goes more money, thanks.

I'm already thinking of using these for puddle lights under the mirrors too.

Did you try both lens and no lens to compare? If so any feedback?

I don't have any experience with the no lens model but here is a video comparing the two. This was what made me decide to go with lens version.

I think they would awesome puddle or under-door lights. They claim they are waterproof.

I forgot to ask how many you are running in the back, is it just one 11mm per side?

I'm running three 16mm per side. I had only planned to put one on each side but sine I had extras, I decided to use them. It's a good amount of light. Not over bearing. I'm very happy with the results.

More specifics are in the Imgur album.

Sorry I missed that in the pics. Looks great and now I'm off to spend some money, probably going to buy a few extra which I'm sure i will find uses for.

I like the mod, really neat.

These would also make great driver & passenger foot lights as well, methinks!
