'15 Limited with '17 TRD Off-road suspension

We have a '15 Limited and we pretty sure we are going to keep it for the long term. I know at some point we'll have to replace the stock suspension and I'm not paying the insane price for the OEM shocks.

I could go with 5100s, 6112/5160 or what ever is available that the time of replacement.

I have a line on an almost new '17 TRDORP suspension and its super cheap. The price is WAY less then anything aftermarket. They are including fully assembled front coilovers, front UCAs, rear shocks and rear springs. I would buy the parts now and just keep them until I needed to replace parts on my '15 Limited.

Physically I know everything will fit, but that's not my question. I know I'll have to disconnect the current XREAS system.

My questions are:

Will the ride be similar to to the current stock XREAS (or what ever it is) system?
Is there any really negative effect from doing a swap like this?
I'm not looking for a lift, but will the swap change the height of of the '15 Limited at all?

To clarify, you're talking about factory OEM TRDOR parts, or aftermarket parts that happened to be installed on a TRD?
 
Not sure why you would want to do this.... unless your saying that down the road when your stock suspension goes out (which is probably years and years from now) that you'd want to replace it with oem parts for cheaper.

Your best bet is to just replace with 5100s when the time comes. TRDORP suspension is nothing special.

'Best' is a very relative term, but I'm not looking to debate the options. The OEM suspension works fine for me.

I'm looking for any technical issues that may occur because of using the TRDORP setup.

Aren't all the Pro options just bolt on to begin with? It will fit, but it will have the Pro rake/height (give or take, provided the wheels/tires you're set up with).

This tells me that the stock Pro is 1/2" taller than the Limited.

Are you meaning offroad or trd pro? If you mean offroad it is just the normal suspension for trail and everything unless it was equipped with kdss. If it is the pro package then it will sit higher up than it does now. As far as comparison. I have not driven the limited with xreas so i couldnt compare it to my trail(now called offroad). It will fit im sure and shouldnt cause any issues either way.

I recently replaced the suspension on my 16 LE with 6112s/5100s and here's my take. I miss the road handling and ride of X-REAS but the trade off was worth it to me since I prefer off-road handling of the new stuff much better. The nose dive while breaking went away and I picked up a bit more body roll in cornering but overall I'm very happy. You can pick up aftermarket 6112/5100 for less than a grand and I think you'd be happier going that route.

Thanks for the info. It is interesting that the road handling was a little more movement with the 6112/5160. The Limited does seem to have small sway bars vs the TRDORP. I wonder if that is to soften the ride and relay on the XREAS to handle body role.

The TRD Off-road (which is the new version of the Trail) will not increase the height of your limited (to my knowledge) the TRD Pro suspension will increase the front height about 1".

Depending on price and your available storage its not the worst idea but it better be cheap. To put things in perspective when I upgraded my suspension I offered OEM suspension for free with just shipping and after a couple weeks ended up tossing it (we moved from a house to an apartment so storage was an issue).....well 2 years later we were in a bigger apartment and had included storage facility and came across a great deal ( I think it was $40 or $50) for the exact suspension you mention so I jumped on it as it will allow me to shorten the downtime when I rebuild the Radflo's if needed.

You don't seem like the kind who are beating on it hard enough to break so if you are doing this solely to have it handy for when your current suspension wears out I would not bother - unless like I said its cheaper then a decent meal out and you can store it without bothering the Mrs. and you have no interested in upgrading to something like 5100's or a OME option
