15 posts took me longer than my wait for a TRD Pro!

Super stoked to be a part of the T4R.org community. I've wanted a 4R since I was 8yrs old. My neighbor's mother owned an early second gen - 2dr, red with the graphics on a gray cloth interior. It was the truck that dropped us off at school nearly every morning. In high school I fell hard for the 3rd gen, and to date I still really like them however as luck would have it the 5th gen would be the first I would own.

Had no idea how difficult one of these were to purchase, and being that I already had another off-road build in progress (RR Classic) I didn't care too much for the TRD Off-Road Premium, but due to the sheer frustration I nearly purchased one. In an ironic turn of events the particular vehicle I was going to purchase sold the morning of the day I visited the dealer, but just before I arrived they unloaded a black on black TRD Pro. I ended up purchasing it immediately for sticker and picked it up the following day after they had it prepped (I also couldn't drive 2 cars home). Video of my entire purchase experience here.



Here's the RRC if there are any landy fans here. It's a 1991 Hunter. Currently going through a restoration and small update.

I picked up my Trd Pro last week

Sick Cavalry Blue! I pick mine up in about a month! The wait is killing me!

When I started the hunt for a 4Runner the local dealership had a white trd offroad below my budget so I went to test drive it, but it sold the day before. I really wanted a magnetic gray, but would settle for the white. Found what I wanted on the lot sitting next to a white TRD Pro. The internal struggle was hard to overcome, but I ended up with the mgm trd offroad. Deep down I’ve always wanted a pro, but I’m happy with what I got. Not enough difference between the two to make me regret it.

Nice ride. I debated between the TRD Offroad base and TRD Pro but mechanically they were pretty much the same and I knew I was going to mod so the pro suspension would have been a waste. In the end, I settled for my 4th gen as an in between because I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend big monies on my SUV atm. At the time I was cross shopping for Mustang GT350s and M2s. Ended up getting the 4th gen and the CTR instead. Love the white though maybe I'll get one down the road and have all 3 generations in the driveway.

I feel the same way. My grandfather had a 1st gen wayy back in the day, but I have always really loved the 3rd gen. I'm hooked!

Also, I had a very similar experience trying to buy an used 3rd gen. I'd drive across the state to see a car and I'd arrive just to be told the vehicle had been sold hours, if not minutes before I arrived. I finally found my current truck from a private seller, and by some miracle I was able to close the deal before he sold it to someone else!!!
