I ask a question about a month ago."Does a 92 4 runner have another fuel filter besides the one on the passenger frame rail"
151 members looked at my question and NOT ONE responded.I can hardly beleive that all those members did not know.I think a question regarding engine surging ONLY when you get to 3200 rpm's (another problem I have)would be much more complicated.I came to this website for help.People tend to be more argumentative than helpful.We will check responses to this.Thanks Dave:confused:

I think the reason no one wanted to commit on this is because we all know the only other place a filter would logically be is in the fuel tank and not many have removed the sender etc. from their tanks. So not knowing for sure makes you a little careful about what you say. No one wants to look like a fool and I have even been attacked myself for coming up with a dumb answer. :bigok:

There's a good number of us, including some of the most helpful members here, who own 1st gen 4Runners and have no knowledge of the 2nd gen models.

Combined with the fact that you don't specify the engine you have, and there are significant differences between the 4cyl and 6cyl.

Between having a 1st gen, and having never with the fuel system outside of the injectors, I can't answer your question.

We all have questions that don't get answered on occasion. Being a **** about a question not getting answered is only likely to cause people to not help you on future questions.
 
I didn't see your other thread but if you had the same attitude you do in this one I would have instantly clicked the back button. The forums are free, you got your money's worth out of them.

I think it's hilarious when people come here because they're too cheap to pay a mechanic and then get pissed when they don't get the help they think they deserve. Why don't you just find a busier Toyota forum and ask there?

I must have missed that one :(

This may not be the most tech savy BBS, but some of us try to answer as many tech questions as possible.

I think the previous post answered your question, the other "filter" is the "sock" on the intake tube in the tank. I've never seen that need replacing. I've gotten dirt in my tank so many times I run multiple in line filters, but never had a problem with the tank filter.
 
Usually when the sock is bad it's because it sat for a long time with little or no fuel and it varnished the sock.I didn't see what engine you have in your post.If you still need help try posting again
 
Not exactly the atitude to have on forums, espically if your trying to get help. Completly explain what you need(like said, what motor you have is a good start) and you will generally get better help. That and just because you have a 92 don't mean everyone here does. Could have been a bunch of 1 gen owners that read. Can't expect them to know every inch of every truck. Many some other 2gen owners just curious looked waiting for a reply. In other words man, don't be so quick to judge about not getting free info. And like said the only other fuel filter I know of on my 94 is the fuel pump sock, and the only reason I've ever changed any of them was while changing bad fuel pumps.
 
I replaced pretty much the entire fuel line and pump in my 1988 4Runner. There is not much to it....The fuel pump has a sort of ridged fuel sock attached to it, that has a hard plastic frame with a fine mesh screen.

On the lower right side of the 22RE 2.4L engine near the oil filter is the factory fuel filter.

This is the least argumentative forum i have ever been on. Hell i dont really ever remember reading any such arguments on here. I have read incorrect answers and someone has corrected them and therey appologized. You want arguments read audiworld.com there is so much B.S. on there it will bore you to death.

Thanks Larry for replying.Sorry I have waited so long to reply,I think the website closed for awhile.
There is another "filter",but it is only a screen for the fuel pickup attached to the pump in tank.It was clogged to no end.With a full tank it would go up to 3500 rpms.With a quarter tank it would start bucking at 2300rpms.I could put it together til I saw that screem.I had already drained the tank to look for trash to try not to remove tank.I did anyway to find my problem.I could have just cleaned and put it back on,but replaced it instead.I am saving the old one for future.
That was a really perplexing question to ask.So I did not ask.But now I have an answer for someone that will be confused for my efforts.If someone would have said screen or filter in tank,I would have went straight for it.I knew it was fuel somehow.Thanks for listening and answering me again Larry ,,,, Dave
 
The problem was the screen in the tank.It was clogged to no end.Full tank it bucked at 3200rpms,at quarter tank it bucked at 2200rpms.That was the problem.Thanks for responding
 
The sock/screen was the problem.With afull tank it bucked at 3200rpms,with a quarter tank it bucked at 2200rpms.Could not figure it out til I saw that screen.thanks for responding,dave
 
There is another screen in the tank and it was clogged bad.It made the truck buck at 3200 rpms on full tank and buch at 2200rpms on a quarter tank.I knew as soon as I saw that screen I had found the problem.thank for reponding Dave

Hmm, I'm a little confused. You lambasted everyone on this site because they didn't or couldn't help you? Sometimes people don't reply simply because they don't know the answer and are afraid of giving out bad info. Personally, I would appreciate no answer rather than the incorrect one. The incorrect information can get expensive and have you chasing your tail.

Next time, try being a little more tactful in the way you speak to people. The old quote that you gather more bees with honey instead of vinegar is very true, especially on a free forum such as this one. I think an apology is in order, but ultimately it's your call.

sorry for so late an answer ,but are were exactly right.The screen there was the problem.With a quarter tank,it bucked at 2200rpms,and with a full tank it bucked at 3300rpms.That was the problem.And thanks again,dave
