16" rims larger caliper clearance

I'm about to order some rims and I want to run 16's I know they don't have issue clearing the smaller calipers but it's the larger calipers that give 16's trouble (sometimes). So what specs are necessary to allow a 16 to fit?
I've read where another user cleared the larger caliper with a 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing.

I've also read that some people will slightly grind the caliper where it rubbed to make clearance. Where did you have to grind and approx how much?

I'd like to run the SCS SR8 16x8 4" backspace but they say they won't fit and recommend the 17's. I'm thinking they've got to be so close to fitting and possibly might fit if someone else cleared a different 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing. Also it seems like maybe a simple small 1/4" spacer would be enough to clear them.

I ended up downgrading my brakes from the sports to the sr5 ones to fit my 16" rims after attempting to grind my calipers down. My rims were a +5 offset so it still slightly rubbed, I had ordered -5 originally so this should've worked. I believe yours equates out to 0 offset so you shouldn't run into the same issue if you downgrade. I ended up getting spidertrax 1.25" spacers which definitely ended up looking much better. The +5 offset actually worked in my favor as my tires stick out just enough now. You can probably just get the spacers first and go from there.

You should be fine as long as you don't have the bigger 13" rotors from the sport. I ran 16s on my FJ which shares the same brakes as the 4runner.
