I have a question. Will wheels off a 2005 Tacoma TRD off road 16" fit on my 2005 t4r sport edition. I tried them out and couldn't really tell about caliper clearance. Has anyone tried this?

You tried them? Did they rub? Looking at the backside of the wheel from under the vehicle you should be able to see the clearance. You don't need much as there's no movement of the wheel without an equal movement of the caliper.

Typically the common wisdom says no 16" on the SE model due to the bigger brakes. I guess with a more favorable offset it might work.

Do the Taco wheels give it a wider stance like the FJC rims?

well when i tried it the hub of my runner seem to be slightly larger than the center of the wheel. It went on when as i tighten the lugs just the 17 once the nuts where off came off no binding. i was wondering if the tacoma and the 4runner had different sized hubs.

and no i dont think they make it any anymore wide. they just look sweet blacked out imo.

The hubs should be the same size. I've seen guys with the 2nd gen Taco run 2006+ Limited 18" rims. Also, the TRD Sport package Taco has the same rims as the 2003-05 4Runner Limiteds and the optional 17" on the SR5s. Tacomas as far as I know don't have larger brakes.
