16" wheels on the SE

I am looking for a way to get a set of 16" wheels on my 2005 SE. I realize the rotors and calipers are too big. Just wondering if anybody has gotten it to work. Maybe a rotor and caliper swap between a SE and an SR5? If anybody would be interested in throwing on a bigger brake setup for your SR5 front rotors and calipers PM me.

Do you have the wheels yet? IIRC somebody got 16" on the big brakes. IIRC it involved Spidertrax spacers or '0' offset wheels.

I may be confusing stories but if you have the rims I'd try one and try to get a feel for if it'd work.

Good luck and let us know:D

I am afraid to even buy a set of wheels yet. From what I have read people have not had any luck with it. Thats why I was considering the whole brake swap "hopefully just the front". If this really hasnt been done yet (which i would think that it has) I am going to go ahead and try to make it work.

Several have purchased the larger rotors and calipers for a brake 'upgrade'. I don't see why you couldn't downgrade. It is just the front.

Why?? Nowadays, there are almost just as much tire selection in 17" as there are in 16"...and the price difference is very small too. Having big brakes on a vehicle that relies on brakes for going (ATRAC) and stopping is a very good thing!

In fact, if i had a choice, then i would get the 17" rims because then i can get the special 255-series BFG M/T that are found on the Jeep Rubicon! :)

Its really just me being picky. I know the one inch difference in the wheel/tire isnt going bring to much of an offroad improvement. But I really do prefer the larger tire smaller wheel look. Im considering a set of 315/75/16's after the body lift and shrockworks front bumper.
