i dont see why it would be a problem. your overall tire size is smaller and thats what would be most likely to rub. the only clearance issue you might have is with the brakes, and i dont even know what the stock offset is.
any reason for the 8" wheels or just what they come in? why not stick with 265s if you are going to a wider rim. or even 275s.

I like the wider look than stock. 245 firestone steeltex runs forever on a f250 and couldnt imagine the life on a little rig like this. plus they are free bc they are off another set of rims. ill have a winter and summer set.
i think the brakes are going to be ok, im more concerned about the fenders.

What is the entire tire size? 245/??/16...
That missing number is the sidewall height and is a percentage of the width, which is the first number. Since most of us here run 265/75/16 without issues, it would take a pretty big second number for the 245's to have a bigger sidewall than the 265/70's. If you are mostly concerned with fenders then go ahead and buy the rims because you won't have any problems with that.
My next thought, is that with your tires being 1.5" skinnier, do you really think you will notice the wheel being an inch wider???

i left out the sidewall number bc we know we are talking about suv and not cars etc. on my pickup i run a 16inch rim and 315s. if you're familiar tire sizes, than there is no sense in saying its a 70.
the only reason why i want new rims is i think the machined look with my ss brushguard looks bland. im considering taking my 265s off my stock rims, but i have these 245s laying around and i have a lifetime alignment on my stock rims with the 265s.
i like the idea of having a summer and winter set of wheels and tires too. cool though, if they wont rub on the fenders or anything else then im good to go. i get worried when dealing with small spaces like the fender wells. im not going to throw a lift on the car because its my "city" car for parking garages and tight lots.
