16x8 wheel advice - moto metals

I am thinking of getting a set of Moto Metal chrome 955s for my 1998 4Runner SR5 4x4. The wheels are 16x8 with 0mm offset and 4.5inch backspacing.

I'm wondering if anyone else has this wheel, and if so, what tire size you are running. I am not planning to lift. Also, I wonder if I can get a 285 on this wheel without issues.

285's w/o a lift probably won't fit without some trimming (actually alot of trimming).

The tires will fit on a 16 x 8 rim. A buddy of mine is running 285 BFG's on 16 x 8 Mickey T II's. It fits on his 98 Runner, but we installed a 2.5" Daystar lift.

Nice choice of wheels though.

Did your buddy change his struts/shocks with the Daystar lift? Was the 2.5 Daystar enough for him to clear?

I just sold my FJ Cruiser, which had nice Walker Evans Racing coilovers, but I don't want to spend that kind of money again on my 4Runner. I just don't need it.

You can get an OME lift from trdparts4u.com for around ~$800 then install it yourself. That will allow you to run 285's without much trimming.

IMO, those wheels are ugly. Too blingy for me. Especially if you're going to be off-roading, which with those wheel, I don't think you're going to.

We installed new shocks/struts with the Daystar kit, but his Runner was due. And yes the 2.5 kit was enough to clear 285's on 16 x 8's. Only very minor trimming of the lower front fascia at the very bottom corner (plastic piece below the metal front bumper)

I kept my Ranchos when I installed my Daystars because they were only a year old. I'm running 33x12.5 on 16 x 10's...trimming REQUIRED...
