17" Alloy wheel weight?

Did the search, no info anywhere...

I'm trying to find out the weight of the 2004 Sport OEM 17" alloy wheel...

I'm guessing it's 30-35 lbs...

I'm considering a set of BBS wheels, 18 or 20", but want to keep the weight as close to stock as possible...

Don't know the weight of the BBS 18s, but the 20s were 46 lbs!!

not sure since I don't own those wheels but the best way is to weigh the wheel and tire. goto the mfg's tire site and then subtract the tire weight and you should have it :)

maybe someone might be able to find the actual wheel weight but in the meantime you can get down and dirty.

Had the same thought but went to the Dunlop site, (and many others) to find out the weight of the AT20s... No joy...

I've seen weights on 65# on the combo, which I believe to be close, without peeling off the tire, it's hard to guess...

Ok, so here it is. I have the 17" limited wheels on and fitted 265/70/17 Revo's. The Revo tire weighs 43lb, quite a bit more than the stock Dunlops. I believe the Dunlops are like 33lb (need to check). WHen I did my rear diff breather extension, I weighed my spare with a Revo on. It weighed 70lb.

SO easy calculation, the wheel itself weighs 27lb, tire 43lb total 70lb. Oh given that it was aired up, probably take 1-2lb of the weight of the wheel.

I think the stock DUnlops weigh 33-35lb, can't find the info anymore.

Damn! Those Revos are heavy... That's my next tire upgrade...

Thanks for the info, that's about what I was guessing... Now I just have to burn up the Dunlops so I can put some real tires(Revos) on... ;):
 
Yeah the Revo's are heavier than the Highway tires, but A/T tires weight a bit more. But M/T tires are quite a few lb's more than A/T tires.
 
Weight does matter, as it affects your ride quality somewhat. The other issue, even more important is rotational weight of the tire/wheel combo. On 20" with wider tires lets say 285, the rotational weight can drastically go up, just check. It normally decreases you acceleration and braking a bit. It shouldn't be that noticeable, but can become if you go for very wide tires.

I assume you are upgrading your wheels/tires for on road driving (i.e. handling and cosmetic). FOr off road you normally try to get as meat (sidewall height) as possible. As it allows you to air down a bit and increase your footprint for offroad driving and also makes it easier to clear obstacles with a "softer" tire.

Having gone +1 wheels/tires on my WRX, I understand the loss of performance when you go that route... What I mean is when I upgrade my offroad tires to the Revos, I willingly accept the minimal loss of performance...

IF I also choose to add some summer performance wheels/tires to the mix, I want the lightest combo available with no bling factor, so that's why I'm trying to locate what's on the market...
