17 or 18 inch wheels??

I have lifted my 03 4runner sport with FJ springs and Daystar 1 and 1.5 inch spacers. I still have the stock wheels and tires and want to do an upgrade to some all terrain tires. I was thinking about buying the 18 limited wheels but am concerned about rubbing issues. I also read that the sport edition have bigger brakes. Will these wheels fit on the 4runner with no conflict to the braking system/rotors? Would the tires rub if I upgrade to 18inch wheels? Should I just stay with the 17's and upgrade to 265/70/R17 tires? Any help and opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.... there's a greater selection of 17" AT tire sizes than 18s but in practical terms, who cares if they make an 18" tire that meets your needs?

logic tells you that the larger 18s will accommodate the smaller brakes of the non-sport 4r.

i like the 18 Limiteds because it looks good... it just happens to be 18s.

it's really tough to not rub on something once you upsize from stock tires. so trimming will likely be on the docket.

as an aside, your 4r almost looks too level. you want a little bit of rake else you're going to look like many of the neglected 3rd gen 4rs on the road today.

Thanks ROK for the response and advice... Looks like you have the 18 Limited's on your runner.. What kind of setup do you have? Tires? Did you have to trim the front panels at all? Thanks

Serious off-roaders go with smaller rims, but big tires on small rims are heavier, harder to balance, less responsive on the road. My other truck has 18s, I looked for 17s for winter wheels because the selection of 18" tires is much less. I guess I like the look of 17s with a lift and bigger tires, it just looks more functional.

I was going to do 16 inch FJ trd wheels on my sport. Read up a ton & there was going to be issues. I wound up with my 18 inch bbs trd wheels because of craigslist. Almost a different extreme. Didn't think they were In my range. Look for what you like & if your looking to buy used, see what comes up for a good price. 17s aren't bad by any means, I don't think maybe people put 18s on "off road" trucks (lifted etc).
