17'' Wheels on 14 Limited

Discount tire refused to sell the wheels/tires without TMPS sensors, so I got them and they need to be reprogrammed. It is a pain, but nothing that can prevent me from driving. On my last trip to CO I had to ignore the warning light for 10 days.

Here in CA no wheel/tire place (except a mom and pop place) will do any wheel/tire install without TMPS if the vehicle is equipped with a TMPS system.

My wheel/tire guy told me it's a liability issue. If something happens, they will be responsible.

Gotta love our sue-happy nation. Anything to get a quick, easy dollar right?

Fail. Good thing the dealer is aware of the product they service/sell.

I always assumed it has to do with the overall rolling diameter. Which is the same. Even if you change it, I don't think it would do too much. I think the diameter of the wheel and the height of the sidewall is irrelevant to the car.

No issues at all for me.

Your dealership is full of crap,. I have a 2016 limited and run the 20's in summer and in winter I run 17 snows

The sensors pick up the difference in the wheel spin not the tire ... So just keep same size on all 4 corners and the computer thinks it's fine

I just called the Toyota Dealership and they said that even if the wheel fits there are sensors on the hubs that are programmed for the 20" wheels and putting 17" rims will mess with the breaking system. I was told not to put the 17"s.

I'm little confused. Do any of you have any noticeable issues with how your 4Runner breaks compared to stock rims?

Bought my 17's for Winter from Toyota and they said nothing like that.
Stock are 20's.
I notice no difference except the Winter tires are much softer which is by design.
