18 Inch Limited Wheels Question

Would anyone happen to know if a set of 18" Limited 4Runner Wheels would fit on my 2009 SR5/4WD? They came off of a 2008 Limited 4Runner.

Right now I have the 265/65 R17 tires on SR5 5 Spoke 17" wheels. The wheels and tires came with the car when I bought it. I am told that the 18" wheels that I want come with OEM 265/60 R 18 tires. I will buy these same tires if they will fit my 2009 SR5/4WD. I am a daily driver and hardly ever go off road driving. This is mostly just for looks but I wanna keep it OEM looking.

How would I swap the TPMS? Any help is appreciated!

I am not sure about the TPMS, but you will be fine putting the limited wheels with that tire size on your SR5.

The rims will fit fine.

The tires will need to be removed from your 17" rims to get the TMPS stem out.

If you're keeping both sets of wheels, you can go without TMPS on the 18" wheels. The TPMS dashlight will come on after about an hour of driving. The light will go off again when you park your 4Runner near the wheels with the TMPS.

They are getting shipped without tires and Ive decided to wrap these rims with the OEM size tires 265/60 R18 to keep the stock look. Ive been researching tire brands and models and came up with the Michelin lattitude tour. I can also get a good deal on them.

Anyone recommend a different tire?

BTW, do 4runner limited rims come in 17 inch and 18 inch(2006-2009 models)?

2003-2005 Limited came w/ 17" Wheels aka SR5 5-Spoke Fatty Wheels

2006-2009 Limited came w/ the 18" 6-Spoke Wheels

2008 or 2009 4Runner Urban Runner also came w/ the 18" 6-Spoke Wheels

Why would you have to swap the TPMS? I would think the wheels cominig from a Limited would have them. Unless the previous owner removed them.

Or are they vehicle specific and they just need to be learned by your system?

Removing/Replacing the TPMS is extremely easy, I had to replace the gasket on my TPMS on my 2007 Camry, of course I need the tire machine, but all it took was 11mm Deep Socket.

Be extremely careful not to damage the TPMS.

The TPMS is Vehicle Specific

1) If the 2nd set of wheels have the TPMS, you have to program those Wheels/TPMS to your vehicle.
2) Or swap TPMS so you don't have to go through the hassle of programming and paying the Dealer a hefty price.

(But again, whoever does your tires, will charge you a fee for swapping the TPMS anyways, because it requires breaking the tire bead anyways.

So maybe having the wheels programmed to your vehicle is Cost & Time Effective.

If your using your vehicle mainly for road use get the Michelin LTX M/S2 - great ratings on tirerack.com and they'll be ok for light offroading.

Thanks K.C. yeah, they are getting shipped without tires and without TPMS so Im gonna use the TPMS from my stock rims. They are also from an '08 Limited so they have to be 18inch rims. I'll look into some different tires as well.
Those michelin ltx ms2 tires look pretty good....better than the lattitude tours i was looking at...

Yeah, I also have the 18" wheels and I think I'll be needing new tires in about 1 year and the LTX M/S2 is what I'm eyeing. A bit pricey but it should pay for itself in the long run.

The limited wheels are really nice looking. I like the upgraded look they offer.
