18 or 20 inch XD wheels for a 99 limited

Hi guys I'm looking to put a set of rims and tires on my 99 desert dune limited with the factory taller springs. I am going with a black xd wheel so if anyone has any pics please post them. My issue is 18 or 20 inch I have huge wheelwells now with the 265 70 16. I want to use the new wheels all year round and I have lots of snow here so the 18" makes more sence but the 20's look so good. I was thinking Nitto terra grappler tires and the recommended 18" size was 275 65 18, will this fit my rig they measure about 32" tall. Thanks if you can help and please post xd wheel pics to help me make a
decision.

Have you posted in the Pimp Zone section? I think you'll have much better luck there. The vast majority of people in this section probably run 17's at the max.

Then go with a 265/75-16 snow tire on your stock wheels.

The 18 doesn't really make any sense. 18" tires will cost way more than 16's will, and won't really help you get through the snow. If you want to get through the snow, get some 255/85-16's in a snow tire and get some nice smooth skids.

Seriously, for the price of your big rims and tires, you could get some good snow rated pizza cutter tires and a full set of skid-row skid/lil skip skid plates to let you slide over the snow.

You are going to have some rubbing. You start getting rubbing with 265/75-16, or 31.5".

I'm not sure, but I don't see the TG's advertised as snow rated. You will be better off with a snow rated tire.

Here are 18's, but a larger tire. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/88638-ryhis-4runner.html 18's aren't bad and you will have better luck in the snow. I would stick with 18's because 20's on this size of vehicle doesn't look the greatest and especially with low profile tires. If you go with a beefier or larger tire then go for it.

Thanks guys, I wasn't that concerned about the snow as I could always use the stockers. Does snow get you guys excited? My main concern was what is the largest tire I can run on a high spring 99 and if anyone had any pics of a 4runner with black xd wheels. Thanks.

Haha, yeah, I guess I was just thinking of getting over a snow bank, though if he is in snow that deep, he is hopefully not going very fast.

I have lots of snow here so the 18" makes more sence but the 20's look so good.

I think that if you have a lot of snow you should just get a 265x75x16 AT / SNOW TIRE such as the BFG AT/S or something similar.

The comment about 18-20" being better for snow doesn't really make a lot of sense. You are referring to the diameter of the wheel / RIM and not the actual tire so just go with a good snow tire on your 16"

You should be able to run the 275 65 18s just fine if the rims have the right back spacing. I ran 265 75 16s on my 98 without any problems from rubbing or anything and you have the 99 talls. Good luck with your decision and personally the 18 sounds better seems like the right size rim for the runner.
