Hi All,

My 4runner is just for the street. Never goes offroad. Looking to get updated wheels and tires. What is better for the 4runner....18"s or 20"s? Or is there much difference in ride, weight, etc???

thanks in advance!

Even on street vehicles, I'm a fan of more sidewall. I would go with the 18's. More sidewall will give a more cushioned ride and help protect from road rash. Tires might be cheaper for 18's vs. 20's although I have never priced them.

You'll definitely get a better ride on 18's with more beefier tires..like previously mentioned it cushions you more from bumps, potholes and such.

The weight is negligible as tire diameter ends up to be the same..smaller rims on 18's with higher profile tires vs. bigger rims on 20's with lower profile tires.

My personal choice is 18's.

I would imagine most folks on the boards right now will say 18's given the choices, but I'm gonna break the mold and say 20's provided you stay with at least a 265/75 tire...which will require some lifting I would imagine and maybe even some trimming and spacers. I know what you mean about the choices of rim in the aftermarket but the rubber band look just doesn't fit with the 4Runner on any level...just one man's humble opinion of course. Happy motoring!
